I have rarely experienced such a disappointing stay as at Atlantis The Palm. The frustration began upon arrival and continued until departure. Right at check-in, we were greeted by an employee whose accent I could barely understand. I had simple questions, but he couldn't answer a single one. Instead of clear information, he simply handed me some documents, saying, "Take a picture of this and use it as a guide." He clearly had no idea about the hotel or the services I had booked. No greeting, no explanation, no service. He didn't even escort us to our room. He handed me the room key and said, "The elevators are back there." We had to find our way around on our own—a disastrous start for a hotel of this category. We were disappointed within the first few minutes. Then there was the beverage package. An absolute joke. You're only allowed a minimal selection, the quality is inconsistent, and you can immediately tell: guests with a package get the "budget version." A piña colada, which is normally served lovingly in a pineapple, was simply poured into a cheap glass in the package – without passion, without quality, without any pretension. For a supposedly luxury resort, this is simply shameful. The same applies to the food. I was only allowed to order from a prescribed, extremely limited selection. Anything that sounded good or was of higher quality cost extra – even though I had paid for full board. It was completely unclear what was included where. None of the staff could explain it to me. When I had questions, the only response was: "Send an email." I did this during my stay – and to this day, I haven't received a reply. No callback, no feedback, nothing. This is no way to treat guests. It's disrespectful. In the evening, I was even charged for tea in a bar, even though I had paid for a beverage package. Apparently, it wasn't valid there. And this happened several times: In restaurants, the package wasn't even offered to me, and some employees didn't even know it existed. It feels like you're constantly running into a brick wall. Restricted, misinformed, and at their mercy. And the worst part: everything, absolutely everything, seems arbitrary and chaotic. The staff is clueless, you're constantly asking for information, and in the end, you still end up paying extra. You feel like you've bought something you're not even allowed to use—a hotel that constantly limits and confuses you. I felt more like I was in a cage than a luxury resort. For a hotel that bills itself as one of the best in the world, this is shameful. No service, no clarity, no structure, no appreciation. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. And I certainly won't be coming back. That was my first stay there—and also my last.
