Aura Tachibana is a bit on the older side, but it is well maintained and has a lot of charm. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help, which really made our stay more enjoyable. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and comfortable, giving us plenty of room to relax. Both dinner and breakfast were good, with a nice variety of dishes and satisfying portions. What really stood out was how accommodating they were with food allergies within our group. In our experience, many Japanese places are not able to adjust meals for allergies, so this level of care and flexibility was especially appreciated and made us feel well looked after.

I stayed here during the January holidays. Although there is a slope from Hakone-Yumoto Station, it is within walking distance. Check-in at 3 p.m. went smoothly. I was shown to my room and stayed in a room with an open-air bath in the Kaze no Yakata. I was able to enjoy the hot springs at any time and the view from my room, so I was very satisfied with the room. The meals were quite filling, and I think even men would be full. The dining area and large public bath are both in the same building, the Kaze no Yakata, so it was easy to get between them. The staff were all very courteous, and I was able to spend a pleasant time. It was close to the station and had a quiet atmosphere, so I was very satisfied.

I stayed in a twin room. There were many steps in the room, so I tripped and fell when I walked up after waking up. The bed's positioning made the aisle narrow, and the bed base was made of wooden cubes, so I kept hitting my toes on them. The paint on the room walls was full of burrs, so it rubbed against my skin and could cause bleeding when bathing. The door to the bathroom from the shower room only opened halfway. Dinner. The course menu was poorly put together. The menu couldn't even be considered a fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine. The waiter thumped the plates down without even knowing where they were. Putting the soup and rice on the wrong side would be enough to make an elderly person furious. Serving food one after another was done in a rushed manner, and empty plates were collected. The hot pot had almost no flavor whatsoever. (Even the fish and soft roe) As for fruit, the melon was badly cut, all strung together, and was less sweet than a hanejuu (Japanese cucumber), so I couldn't eat it. The cafe reopened at 8:30pm, and while I was waiting to order a cappuccino, an Asian female staff member informed me in broken Japanese that they were out of beans that day. *Of course, there was no mention of this on the menu I was shown.
