Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel

A wonderful hotel, superb location, great views. And a wonderful rooftop pool. The breakfast was fantastic, with something for everyone. French, Thai, English, Chinese – everything was available. A real hit was the shot machine where you could make your own fresh shots. The staff were wonderful and friendly, anticipating your every need.

I had an excellent stay at this hotel in Bangkok. The customer service was outstanding from start to finish — the staff were genuinely caring, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The food was fresh, well prepared, and consistently enjoyable, and the overall service made me feel truly taken care of throughout my stay. You can really tell that the team here values their guests and pays attention to the small details. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bangkok. I realized a lot were asking about the gym. You have a leg ext, lat pull down, Cable Rows and a bench with dubbells. Also a machine press that can be adjusted for chest and shoulders. Not the best but can work for the time being. Use your imagination guys.

The hotel itself is fine. It is modern and well maintained, but it does not offer a cozy or authentic Thai experience. You arrive, go straight up to the 11th floor, receive your room key, and that’s basically it — very impersonal. The view is absolutely stunning. Rooms are clean, nicely designed, but slightly on the small side. The pool is amazing, and the rooftop bar is outstanding. The food at the rooftop and also at the bar on the 11th floor is very good — and this is where the problems begin. Breakfast is a disaster. I honestly don’t know who would enjoy it. Eggs and omelets must be ordered on a paper form, which a staff member collects whenever she has time. Most of the time, she doesn’t — so you end up chasing her around. By the time your eggs arrive, you’ve already finished everything else from the buffet. The eggs themselves are nothing special, completely bland with no salt or pepper, and after Eggs Benedict I felt unwell. The selection is extremely limited: one type of cold cut, one type of cheese, lettuce, corn, and peas. During four days, I did not see any fresh vegetables — no tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, nothing. But sushi is available! A truly questionable breakfast choice. That’s basically it. You cannot make a proper English breakfast or really any balanced breakfast at all, unless you want noodles and meat. If you’re not a fan of Asian cuisine first thing in the morning, your option is bread with butter. Coffee is absolutely terrible. Truly disgusting. I love coffee and cannot start my day without it, but after one sip I felt sick. Wanting to cheer me up, my husband went to Starbucks (which honestly saved us during this stay) and brought me an iced coffee to enjoy by the pool. I was happy for about one minute — until a staff member came over and confiscated my coffee, smiling 😊. Yes, there is a sign at the pool, but my husband didn’t know. There was no discussion, no flexibility, no understanding. We weren’t bringing wine bottles or KFC wings — it was a sealed plastic cup of coffee. After contacting the hotel, I was told this rule exists for hygiene reasons. Interestingly, they had no problem offering me to buy coffee from the pool bar instead — the same terrible coffee. They also sell cocktails in regular plastic glasses. So where exactly is the hygiene concern? Let’s be honest — this is about maximizing profit. The irony is that the day before, I spent a significant amount of money at the pool bar. After this incident, I didn’t spend a single baht there again — not even on water. The pool opens at 8:00 AM, but the bar only at 11:00 AM. Come on. One cup of coffee would not ruin the business. I also wrote to the hotel explaining my concerns, especially regarding breakfast quality compared to the excellent (and expensive) food served at the rooftop. I was told my feedback had been forwarded to the kitchen. Nothing changed. So whatever response the hotel may post here — take it with a grain of salt. In my experience, these are just empty words. To sum up: I recommend visiting the rooftop bar — and skipping the hotel stay altogether. Bangkok offers countless excellent hotels in this price range that provide a far better overall experience.
