Poor condition of rooms

Friendly staff and generally a quiet hotel with direct beach access. Highly recommended!

Five stars for location, right on a very sandy beach, a large cala, with the nice pool overlooking the sea, and a little palapa for service right there. Pool wasn't crowded, mostly chairs were available. That part was delightful. And walking distance to the main road where there were many restaurants, bars etc, open pretty late. The hotel service was ok, but not overly friendly or informative. We checked in very late at night and had we not known things like "put the key card in the slot to turn on the lights" we would have been in the dark, so to speak. The daytime service was more friendly (called a cab for us etc). The restaurants were convenient and the food was pretty good, though pricey (breakfast buffet was really great, loved that!). The rooms.... very much in need of some updating and general maintenance. Some lights didn't work etc. The room was fine, clean enough. Nespresso in the room was nice, bottled water each day, cute basket with beach towels ready for us. The one thing that really bugged me was that we paid extra for Junior Suite Sea View, which would imply spacious (was same as most other rooms) and an actual Sea View. Below is a photo, but there was a huge palm tree right in front of our room, so while the sea was there, we couldn't see it directly from our balcony. We asked to move to a higher floor but they told us there were no rooms available. Had we been in one of the rooms next to us, the entire view would have been a giant mass of tree leaves (perhaps those are not "sea view", hope not!). We were disappointed because one thing I was looking forward to was sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine and watching the sea. Maybe we'd stay here again for the location, but we'd ensure our expectations were met regarding what room we stayed in.
