I have the warmest memories of my stay at the hotel. The hotel itself is located in a quiet spot near Skaleta, backed by a cliff on one side, then a dead end with a tiny, charming church (we witnessed a real Greek wedding there, complete with a wedding ceremony and 200 guests!) The road is slightly higher, so it's very quiet, perfect for a leisurely family vacation without any pretensions to luxury. You don't have to cross the road, but you do have to walk a short distance to the nearest beach shops. The beach is free with sun loungers, but it's rocky and always full of fishermen and !seagulls!). In the evenings, locals come to the pier for romance. The sun sets "into the sea." If you walk about 350 meters to the left, you'll find a sandy beach with coarse yellow sand and strong waves, along with a large hotel. The hotel itself is small, family-run, neat, clean, and quiet. The cuisine is excellent, simple but delicious. There's a melon and tomato patch right next to the hotel—it's so cute. Once a week, there are theme nights with dancing. Ice cream and drinks are available throughout the day by the pool. Basically, we mostly ate breakfast and dinner, rented a car, and traveled around the island. We visited Lake Kournas, the gorge, the prairies, the picturesque beaches, Heraklion, and Chania. We walked a lot and ate delicious food in the tavernas. We could have taken a day ferry to Santorini, but we chose the island's itineraries. It was the August heat, the sea was like warm milk, the sultry sunsets—it was beautiful.
