BELLUSTAR TOKYO, A Pan Pacific Hotel

I stayed here the other day. I stayed in a different room than last time, but it was just as clean and sophisticated as ever. The hospitality was also attentive, with just the right amount of distance, neither too close nor too far. The only thing I found disappointing was that the window in my room was dirty, obscuring the view. When I was shown to my room, the staff member told me that the window cleaners would be coming, and there was a note on the table stating that cleaning would be coming, so I thought it would be fine if it was cleaned, but in the end it remained dirty until check-out. They recommended closing the curtains so that people wouldn't see the cleaners coming in, and since I wear a bathrobe after bathing and didn't know what time the cleaners would come in, I kept the curtains closed, but I still couldn't enjoy the view from the higher floors. It's disappointing that this happened in a hotel in this price range, as everything else was great.

Great hotel, definitely a more refined brother of the Groove, located in the same building. Very good breakfast (proper sit down, not a buffet), amazing service, awesome views. Being an upscale hotel, it may have less availability for the double upgrade for titanium GHA members - wasn't able to get it, though easily got the same perk in Groove on the same week. There is an issue with the windows' soundproofness on the west side - you can hear almost every train passing by, and that's a lot of trains day and night, non-stop. Considering the price, this is a major issue, and this is the only reason for 4/5 rating, everything else is top notch.

We stayed first at the Fairmont Tokyo and then moved to Bellustar Tokyo, A Pan Pacific Hotel. Unfortunately, after comparing both stays, we were disappointed with Bellustar. We chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews. However, when comparing it to other five star hotels we stayed at during this trip to Tokyo and also on our previous visit, this hotel does not feel like a true five star property. It felt more like a four star hotel. The rooms are beautiful, modern in design, and the views are great. The proximity to the subway are also excellent. However, there were several negative aspects. Before booking, guests should be aware that you can hear sirens and outside noise throughout the entire night. It was truly very loud. The area outside the hotel was also filled with many young people who were drunk, shouting, and even vomiting in the streets. This did not create a five star atmosphere. The breakfast was very disappointing. The selection was limited and we had to wait around fifteen minutes just to get regular bread. For a hotel in this category, this is very weak and not what one would expect from a luxury property. There was only one elevator going up to the lobby, which caused long waiting times. In the room itself, there was not even liquid hand soap, only a small bar of soap. The shower amenities were also very basic. Even many three star hotels provide proper shampoo and conditioner in good dispensers, but here there were only small bottles. The minibar selection was very limited and consisted mostly of alcoholic beverages. What was especially disappointing was that we booked the hotel through American Express Platinum Fine Hotels and Resorts. This is the first time in over twenty stays in this category that we did not receive any upgrade. It also seemed as if the staff were not fully aware of the cooperation with American Express. Normally early check in at 12:00 is possible. At first we were told the room was not ready, but shortly after it suddenly was ready. The checkout process also took a very long time. Overall, while the hotel has a modern design and a good location, it did not meet our expectations of a true five star experience.
