Went today for a carvery was disappointed the meat was awful couldn't cut it never mind eat it ive been here many times for Sunday carvery and it has always been nice but wasn't happy with today's dinner.

AVOID. Dirty beds and staff do not care. I arrived for my stay at the hotel and had to go searching outside for a staff member, who was outside vaping. Checked into my room to find the bed covered in small black/brown stains, so after going back outside to find the receptionist again I raised my concerns and asked for a clean room- he didn't even question it or check the room for himself, just gave another one straight away. I checked the new room and found the exact same problem, plus a strong smell of cigarette smoke and marks on the bed that looked like somebody had slept in it with their shoes on. Went back outside on a third quest to find the vaping receptionist and asked for a refund as I wouldn't be staying due to the condition of both rooms. During our conversation I mentioned a number of bad recent reviews, including some about bedbugs, and their response was "oh yeah, I heard about that too". It seems as though they are well aware of the issues but simply don't care enough to do anything about them. I emailed the manager the next day asking for a refund and again, no questioning or checking the rooms, just "go to booking.com if you want a refund" - be aware that The Bessemer will then deny any wrongdoing to the booking site. It seems like nobody at the The Bessemer cares. They know about the conditions of the rooms, but find it easier to just put you in a new room (until you give up) and fob you off to whatever third party site you booked via- at which point they'll deny everything to try and avoid a refund. You will be much better off staying at any generic cheap hotel chain; at least they actually care about their reputations.

Absolutely perfect hotel. Cozy rooms, comfy beds, and excellent food. Came here for shopping and a nice night away with my partner. The staff here have been nothing below impeccable. Ellie on the bar/restraunt tonight has been amazing! Went absolutely above and beyond to ensure we had a good experience. Refused to take our tip even though she really deserved it lol! Parking was included too which was lovely. It's in a nice location, quiet but easy to get to the town centre whilst driving.
