We booked a hotel from Saturday to Monday at the Best Western hotel Saint Claude in Peronne because we had car issues and need to stay in a hotel. On Monday morning, we asked if we could keep the room a little longer (for a fee) because of our pets and did not want to wait in the cold with them. This was not possible because they had to clean the room before 3 p.m. But we could stay in our room for another whole night and pay the full night. Excuse me? So paying a small fee until 6 p.m. is not possible, but paying for a whole night is? This made me so sad. We left at 15.30 hours but paid extra night. The hotel wasn't even fully booked; there were only two couples at breakfast. We will never complain if something is disappointing, but if you feel that you are not being listened or helped, then of course I will speak up: We didn't ask for cleaning these days, no extra towels, the breakfast was really bad, empty bins, bread that was already hard, no fresh rolls or anything, and what was full, fruit bowl, came from a tin and was mushy and... also something very special: We were informed that the hotel is unstaffed from 9 p.m. onwards, so you need a code to enter. To our surprise, this is not only the case in the evening, but also during the day. Imagine if you don't have the code with you during te day. After we went outside on Sunday at 12 mid day, and returned to find the hotel closed? It was totally dark inside. You could call an emergency number, but no one answered after several attempts? So we stood outside in the cold waiting. Unbelievable... And besides... they claim to speak English? I don't know who, but they don't bother to try. You expect people to show a little humanity and be helpful in this situation, but we were completely wrong. We feel that we are not being taken seriously and that we are still being saddled with more extra costs.

Just passing through for a short night, this hotel was perfect. There's no dedicated parking for the hotel (pedestrian street), but it's fairly easy to find parking nearby (free from 6 p.m.). The rooms are well-appointed, the bathroom is large, we appreciate the bathtub, and the bedding is comfortable. The breakfast is magnificent! Really well-stocked (pastries, breads, eggs, crepes, pancakes, several fruit juices and cereals), we appreciated the homemade cake and especially the fresh fruit salad. Thank you for the smile of the breakfast cook!!! (Note that breakfast officially opens at 7 a.m., but you can start accessing the buffet a little earlier, which is convenient for early risers.)
