Stay from December 31, 2025 to January 3, 2026 – Best Western Mannheim My husband and I spent three nights at the Best Western Mannheim. We had planned for three pleasant days. Unfortunately, the negative experiences far outweighed the positive ones, which is why this review is so sober and critical. Negative We booked a business room. This room did not meet our expectations in any way. We specifically requested a quiet room when booking, which was unfortunately ignored. The room was extremely noisy: The air conditioning/heating system made a constant, very disturbing noise, and there was also loud running water coming from the wall. After a lengthy discussion, we were finally offered a different room. The first employee at reception visibly tried to find a solution – this deserves positive mention. The original business room had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the beds were not clean. In the replacement room (superior), the heating did not work at all during the entire day. Another employee at reception reacted unprofessionally at night, ridiculing the problem and telling us to check the heating ourselves. The problem was demonstrably not ours. From approximately 2:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., we were stuck in our room with a temperature between 14 and 16.5 degrees Celsius and no working heating. Only after repeated, insistent inquiries was any action taken. This made our stay extremely unpleasant and in no way met the standards of a superior room. What was particularly infuriating was that we were charged an extra €60 for this room – even though, according to the maintenance worker, this was the only room in the entire building with heating problems. So, I paid extra for a room with a significant defect. From 7:00 p.m. onwards, the heating worked intermittently, and by January 2nd, we had reached a maximum temperature of 17.6 degrees Celsius. No compensation or even a small gesture (e.g., a drink) was offered. We received no compensation whatsoever. This does not meet the service standards one expects in a 4-star hotel. Another unacceptable behavior: A receptionist charged himself a €0.50 tip late at night, even though I had helped myself to the drink from the refrigerator. This is completely inappropriate. The maintenance worker who was called in did not take our complaints seriously, repeatedly spoke negatively about the hotel, smelled strongly of alcohol and cigarettes, and offered a series of excuses and contradictory statements. His behavior was very unpleasant and also not up to the standards of a 4-star hotel. On the positive side: The superior room was visually very appealing. The bed was extremely comfortable, and it was pleasantly quiet at night. The room definitely has potential – unfortunately, we couldn't fully enjoy it due to the lack of heating. A receptionist was friendly, helpful, and clearly trying to find a solution. This is definitely a positive point. It's also worth mentioning that the Hotel Teinacher offers its own brand of lemonades 🥤. , ... Conclusion A beautiful room and a few dedicated staff members unfortunately cannot disguise the fact that the handling of legitimate complaints, technical defects, and the overall service do not meet the standards of a 4-star hotel. The lack of compensation for significant inconveniences during the stay was particularly disappointing.
