Blackwell Hotel

The room in the carriage house was cold, even after hours of the mini split set at 80 and being out to dinner most of the evening when we arrived back to the room it seemed that it was not any warmer. Other than that just ok. Room was moderately clean, breakfast was adequate.

I had the misfortune of speaking with the events coordinator, Jennifer - on hosting my baby shower. I had questions on accommodations and pricing, and was met with a very hostile and rude demeanor. She suggested this wasn’t the right space for me solely based off the questions I had. Anyone would have questions on a special day like their baby shower right? If you’re looking to host an event here, wedding or otherwise, I’d really reconsider.

Let me first preface by reassuring that we DID NOT have a BAD stay by any means, and what little intersection we did have with the staff was very pleasant. The staff actually was probably the location's high point! However.. The whole house/experience was a lot like your our first impression. Looks GREAT at first/from a distance, but when you get closer it needed some work. 🫤 We stayed in Room 4 (North Travelers King Suite) The decor of the room was lacking both in quality and in taste. (To be fair, we were warned by the Hotel's own description of the room decor, but still found it disappointing in person). Simple things like cable management/properly hiding TV cables was not done. Mismatched/random hangers on the wall mounted hooks, missing ceiling vent cover above bed - All detracted further from what was already a bit of a disappointing room environment. Sadly there was also a discrepancy between what their own website stated they would provide, and what was actually provided. (In our room at least): "Pillow top and sleep number mattresses" (Ours was an 8" king size "memory foam" that probably should have been replaced many stays ago.. Not a great night sleep😬) "Plush signature robes" (Our room had NO robes provided, plush, signature or otherwise..) "New Hot Tub!" (If there WAS a hot tub, we never found it, nor was there any evidence that one existed. (signage, instructions etc 🤷) "Hot breakfast made fresh" (It was indeed made "hot and fresh", yet as far as hot items go, there was scrambled eggs and hash browns. No meat options or biscuits & gravy, or waffles, pancakes.. ANYTHING else would have been a big step up. A bit disappointing for what seems like should be a simple remedy to produce a memorable breakfast.) Overall just an average stay at an above average price. 🫤
