If you don't like diving, this isn't the island for you. The hotel has a beach, but it's not suitable for snorkeling, though there is access to a snorkeling spot. It's a quiet hotel, designed for relaxation; there's no TV in the room. Excellent service and superb Italian cuisine. Everything was delicious! The island's streets are sandy, and the market is the place to be at night.

My 15 year old is an avid diver and had been asking us to take a trip to Malapascua to dive with the thresher sharks. Never been to the Philippines, so I reached out to some friends in Manila, asking them for some directions. They got me in touch with Andrea, the owner of Blanco resort. From the moment I touch base with Andrea, from guidance, information and bookings, it’s was a great experience. He was very informative, helpful and even assisted with the dive bookings. The day we got into Cebu, it was meant to be a 4 hour drive to Maya port and then a 30 minute boat ride to the island. But due to the earthquake relief efforts on Cebu, the traffic was horrific. It took us 12 hours to get to the Maya port but by this time, the port was closed and we would have to spend the night somewhere. Andrea was in touch with me throughout the ride and even arranged lodgings for us near Maya port. It’s was a convenient overnight stay and the next morning, our boat was waiting to take us to the island. Upon reaching the island, the boat dropped us right in front of the resort. Andrea and his staff members were waiting to greet us. It all felt very comfortable and relaxed. We sat down, had a chat and then were shown our family room for 4. Given that the island is cut off from all the mainland facilities, the resort is an oasis. Beautiful and practical rooms, nice stocked up bar near the restaurant , amazing restaurant with wonderful, safe and clean food. And they can arrange anything you want, even if it’s off the menu. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable. Nice area in front of the resort for some snorkeling and yes, we saw some black tipped sharks too while snorkeling. The overall trip was amazing but the highlight for the resort is the owner and his people!! You can sense the passion and care that is taken to make the guests feel comfortable and welcome. No request is too small as long as it’s within reason. A big thank you to Andrea and his team. And may I add that it is also the best food in town that is served in their restaurant. We will be back!!
