Mantra The Point

Going downhill to get to reception at the grade it was, was not safe. Parking was laborious to get into and out of. We left our suitcases upstairs as we were not taking them downstairs to the bedroom. The shower would block every now and again when in use and we had to stop the water and continue once the drain had cleared. The drain in the sink in the kitchen was also not draining properly, probably because of some incorrect plumbing modifications that have caused water damage. The other thing is that we had money taken out 7 days prior to our accommodation instead of being taken out on the day of arrival.

Overall, this hotel was very mediocre. Don’t get me wrong, the views are STUNNING. But the hotel/apartment itself leaves a lot to be lacking. I got the two bedroom apartment so I could have the balcony, and it’s clear it’s very rundown and hasn’t been really been renovated in a while. There was clear packing tape on one of the outlets beside the bed, holding it very loosely to the wall, and there were many dings along the paint. There’s also the fact that the bedrooms are downstairs, with no way to enter them from the outside, so if you want your luggage with you, you’d have to lug it all the way down the stairs, then all the way back up once your done. Or, like me, you leave your luggage upstairs and just bring things down, forcing you go up and down the stairs multiple times for everything. Finally, the dryer of the combo washer/dryer does NOT work. I found this out the hard way when I tried to wash my two days worth of clothes (which were not bulky, as I wear thin clothing usually) and the dryer did not dry anything despite me trying multiple times throughout my last night. I ended up having to spend half an hour frantically drying my clothes with the hair dryer to make it even slightly dry enough to put in my luggage without getting everything else wet. I’ll still likely have to redo the laundry once I get to my next location, though, which is really frustrating. I was hoping to get an extra two days of laundry out of this, to put off having to do multiple loads at a laundromat over my three week stay, but now I’ll just be stuck doing more laundry than before. Again, while the view is very beautiful, I’m sure there has to be a better hotel that gives you a similar or even better view, without the hassle of this place. I give it three stars for the view, but the issues with the hotel/apartment itself were just too much for me. Oh! It’s also about two km (a mile or so) away from the town’s center, so if you don’t have a rental car, you have to either get an uber (which can take a while, especially early morning), or walk half an hour into town. Neither is that bad, but it was annoying.

They were more than accommodating for our late arrival place was very clean and the views from both rooms on both stays were absolutely stunning
