Buckatree Hall

The hotel was probably very nice about 30 years ago but is now quite rundown and shabby looking. I booked it last minute, the price was good and it looked very nice on the website. We arrived at about 8pm and were very tired after a long and difficult day, so we're looking forward to eating in the advertised restaurant and then having an early night. Unfortunately, on arrival, we were informed that there was no food available at all and the restaurant was closed. Looking at other reviews, the restaurant has been closed for months but the hotel is still advertising food as being available. This meant going back out into the rain and trying to find a restaurant in town which was annoying and would have stopped me booking in the first place, had they said so on their website. There was also some confusion over my booking, as they had already booked someone into my room (they had a similar name to mine, which raises further concerns as to their attention to detail) and I was asked for ID to prove I was actually the right guest. I was given another room eventually and we went to the room. The hotel is generally shabby and tired looking and the room was the same. The shower didn't work, only giving scalding hot water, the temperature tap being stuck. There were also somebody's false nails in the plughole and behind the bathroom door. If I hadn't been so tired, I would have complained but by this point, I just wanted to rest and I doubted that any other room would have been better. The room's balcony filled up with rain overnight and was an inch deep in water in the morning, as the drain was blocked with mud.

Beautiful location and building the rooms where very clean and classy and up to date the staff where very fast polite and helpful. Definitely will stat again 👌💯

Low budget hotel that has long since seen better days. No food available on my visit but there was a takeaway menu for a local Indian restaurant. Bed sheet had an old stain on it.
