To begin with, we were lured by the nice, high quality photos showing beautiful rooms and luxurious décor. However, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m not saying it’s horrible; however, it is very different from what is presented in the pictures. Nowhere in the booking.com information was it mentioned that there is no elevator. For us, carrying the heavy luggage up to the third floor wasn’t a major issue; however, the man at the reception asked if we wanted the luggage to be brought upstairs. One of the reception staff wanted to photocopy both sides of my ID and justified it by saying that I would not have to wait. I’m sorry, but I won’t allow anyone to photocopy my ID just to save me three minutes while entering the data into the hotel computer. The room we had on the third floor itself wasn’t that bad; however, there were several things we wished were different. Firstly, the room did not have any view from any of the windows. There was no duvet, just an old blanket covered with a thin bedsheet. The bathroom left a lot to be desired. Before the bathtub even reached its maximum water level, most of the water poured out from underneath it. Luckily, there was a drain in the middle of the bathroom. The breakfast was, let’s say, very average; therefore, as soon as we entered the breakfast room, we decided to leave. You are better off grabbing some cicchetti on the way than eating breakfast at this hotel. Overall, the hotel wasn’t very expensive; however, if I had known what it really looked like and what standard it offered, I would definitely have chosen something else. Unless you have no other options, we do not recommend this place. Responce to the comments of the Hotel I would like to clarify a few points, as my review was an honest description of our personal experience, not an attempt to mislead anyone. • Elevator: At no point did I claim that the hotel advertises an elevator. I simply stated that the lack of one was not mentioned in the Booking.com description, which is a relevant detail for many travelers. This is a factual observation, not a complaint. I categorically deny entering any restricted or forbidden area. The photo in question was taken from a common staircase, which is an open and accessible space for guests. Accusing a guest of violating hotel rules or the law based on a photo taken from a public area is both inaccurate and unjustified. • Luggage assistance: Yes, the staff kindly offered to carry our luggage, which I acknowledged. The comment about stairs was not meant as criticism, but as additional information for future guests. • Room and bathroom: The bathtub issue occurred before it was filled to the edge. Water leaked from underneath the tub, not from the rim. The presence of a floor drain does not change the fact that water escaped where it should not have. • View: I fully understand that canal-view rooms are a premium category. I did not expect a canal view — I merely stated that the room had no view at all, which is again a factual description. • Breakfast: The breakfast photo reflected what was available at the time of our visit. Our decision to leave was based on our impression of the offering, which, like all reviews, is subjective. My review represents our genuine experience and expectations shaped by the photos and description presented online. Other guests may feel differently, and that is perfectly fine. Reviews exist to present diverse perspectives so future travelers can make informed decisions.
