Cameron House On Loch Lomond

From the moment we arrived at Cameron House, everything felt spectacular. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we stepped into reception, and the lovely staff made sure we had everything we needed. They even helped us with our luggage, which set a wonderful tone for the stay. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic — an impressive selection of food and drinks, beautifully presented. The only downside was the queue, which was quite tiring as I am currently 32 weeks pregnant. We had also booked several restaurants on-site, and each one was beyond spectacular. The food was well worth the wait and truly a highlight of our visit. However, things took a very upsetting turn. We were staying in a suite with a downstairs and upstairs room. We specifically requested that housekeeping only clean the downstairs area and not enter the upstairs room, as our animals were staying there. We made this extremely clear to reception and were reassured that our request would be respected. Despite this, after returning from a short three-hour trip to Glasgow, we were devastated to find that housekeeping had entered the upstairs room anyway. Our animals were extremely distressed: diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy, and confusion. We couldn’t find our cat for ten minutes, and the panic was overwhelming. Although staff eventually found him, he was absolutely terrified. It felt like a huge breach of trust. We requested to meet with a manager the next day once we had calmed down. Despite wanting to leave immediately, we tried to remain composed. Thankfully, the manager, CJ, was incredibly understanding and went above and beyond to apologise and make things right. Her professionalism and kindness truly stood out and is one of the reasons this review isn’t entirely negative. Still, it felt like the hotel suffered from major communication issues and possible understaffing. For such a beautiful property with fantastic amenities, it’s a shame that internal coordination fell short. There were also several smaller but frustrating issues. Each time we requested our car, we were repeatedly asked if we were checking in or out, which quickly became annoying. When we asked for a shuttle to a nearby restaurant, we were told it was only a “five-minute walk” — despite it being dark, cold, slippery, and despite the fact that I am 32 weeks pregnant. No guest, let alone a heavily pregnant one, should be told to just walk instead of being helped. Then there was housekeeping again. Even though we left a clear “Do Not Disturb” sign indicating that our dog was inside the upstairs room, they still entered. Considering we have a Rottweiler, this could have ended in a dangerous situation for both the staff and our dog. It was careless and unacceptable. In the end, we chose to leave earlier than planned. What was meant to be a relaxing getaway turned into a stressful and emotional experience. Cameron House is undeniably beautiful, with wonderful facilities and some exceptional staff members, but the lack of communication and disregard for our requests made our stay far from the dream holiday we hoped for.

Valet parking was effortless, and the concierge made handling our luggage incredibly easy. Jennah at the front desk was an absolute pleasure to speak with — warm, welcoming, and truly helpful. The breakfast area accommodated many guests comfortably and offered a wide variety of options. Our room was amazing: spacious, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches. We especially loved the chocolate plate waiting for us on arrival and the warm towel holder. A beautiful property with outstanding service. Would highly recommend!
