Camps Bay Village

The accommodation has a perfect location in Camps Bay and is safe. The service and helpfulness are definitely there. The rooms are a bit dated, but they were clean and cleaned daily. You could cook in the kitchen, which was equipped with pots, plates, cups, cutlery, and a refrigerator with a freezer compartment. A kettle, toaster, oven, and microwave were also provided. The pools were clean and inviting. The price-performance ratio was definitely right. Perfect location for walking to the beach.

A review you should read carefully before booking this property. While the location of Camps Bay Village is undeniably convenient, our 7-night stay in the Stone Cottage unit was deeply disappointing and far below the standard we reasonably expected for the price paid. To be clear, the issues mentioned below are not the full list of problems we encountered — they are simply the most disruptive and unacceptable ones that significantly affected our comfort and sleep. The bathroom drainage was extremely poor. Every shower resulted in the entire bathroom flooding, with water spreading all the way outside the bathroom area. This was not a minor inconvenience but a recurring daily issue. The room itself was exceptionally small — far smaller than it appeared in photos — and felt barely suitable even for one person, let alone two. There was very limited space to move around or store luggage, making the room feel cramped and uncomfortable throughout our stay. The bed was also far too small for two adults. Despite neither of us being particularly tall, our arms and legs constantly extended beyond the bed, causing us to bump into each other during the night and repeatedly wake up. This alone made restful sleep nearly impossible. Noise was another major issue. We experienced constant disturbances from multiple sources: loud plumbing noises whenever neighboring rooms used water, persistent mechanical clicking sounds from appliances, significant street traffic noise due to poor sound insulation and its location next to the street and daytime noise from a nearby school. Even the pool area was far from peaceful. At night, the noise was so severe that earplugs were not enough, and we were woken multiple times despite using them. Privacy in the bathroom was nonexistent. The sliding bathroom door was poorly installed, leaving large gaps that allowed sound to travel freely. It functioned more like a flimsy divider than a proper door, offering no real privacy in the bathroom. In addition, the cottage area contained a toilet within our fenced space that was regularly used by staff, which felt intrusive and inappropriate for what was supposed to be a private accommodation. Basic amenity and maintenance requests were also handled poorly. When we asked for additional shower gel and reported the drainage issue, these requests were forgotten and only addressed after repeated follow-ups. While they were eventually resolved, this happened very late into our stay. Offering a room change on our final night, when we were checking out the next morning, was not a practical or meaningful solution and reflected poor judgment rather than genuine consideration for the guest experience. What made this experience especially frustrating is that this was our first accommodation in Cape Town, a city we truly love. Instead of starting our holiday feeling relaxed and welcomed, we spent the first week dealing with ongoing discomfort and unresolved issues. Once we moved to our next accommodation, the difference was immediate and striking — we finally felt at ease, which only highlighted how problematic this stay had been. After our stay, we noticed that there are many 1-star reviews describing very similar problems. Unfortunately, we did not pay enough attention to them before booking — and now we fully understand why those guests felt the way they did. This does not appear to be an isolated incident, but rather a pattern pointing to deeper issues in management, maintenance, and service standards. Meaningful improvement here would require more than minor fixes — it would require a serious change in how this property is managed and how guest concerns are handled. If you are considering booking this property, I strongly recommend reading the 1-star reviews carefully before making a decision.

My family and I stayed at Camps Bay Village Stone Cottages for five nights and had a wonderful experience. The facilities were clean, comfortable, and in a great location, a short walk to Camps Bay Beach, shops, and restaurants. What really made our stay special was the incredible team. Mercy, Essie, Basanda, Nono, and Vuyo were always friendly, positive, and happy to share a laugh. They truly made us feel welcome and at home. Thank you all for such a lovely stay! Enkosi kakhulu!
