Canyon Hotel Erbil

The worst experience I've ever had was staying five nights at this hotel. I had booked a six-day family suite, but it wasn't really a family suite at all, as there was no privacy or separation between the rooms. From the moment I arrived and went up to the suite, I wasn't comfortable. Since I hadn't paid the reservation fee, I decided to stay for three nights. During those three nights, I noted several issues with the rooms: they were extremely hot and stuffy even without turning on the heating. The bathroom would flood with shower water because the 2-inch toilet bowl wasn't big enough for the amount of water coming out of the shower! The sink was closed, and water also collected in it. It took me two days of pleading before they came and cleaned it! We are a family of four, and they only set up rooms for two people. You have to plead and give tips before they'll even bother to set us up! The room service ignored the room, and if they did come, they just made the sheets and left! There was only one small wardrobe, barely enough for one person's clothes! And the safe was hidden in an exposed spot inside the shoe rack, meaning you had to sleep on the floor to use it! Because our clothes and luggage are a hobby, we were too lazy to leave, so we extended our stay for two days hoping they would address the issues! But the last night made me swear I'd give them one star because I waited for room service until 6 PM to see if they'd changed the linens! When they finally arrived, they said the hotel was full and they didn't have any linens; it would take an hour to get them from the iron! We left and came back at 9 PM, and they still hadn't changed them! I went down to reception and told them that if they didn't change them within an hour, I'd have to leave the hotel and give them a zero rating because I'm a local guide on Google. They gave the same excuse: the hotel was full! I told them that was their problem and that saying the hotel was full wasn't a good answer for tourists because customers want their comfort and aren't going to share in the profits from filling up the hotel! Anyway, I came back two hours later and found they'd only half-changed them! And how did I know? Because I'd left small hidden marks with a pen on the sides! As for the garage, it's completely unguarded and unorganized; anyone can park however they want! If you park on the sidewalk next to the hotel, leave your car and take a taxi! The valet service is provided by a single, poor guy who works from 6 AM to 12 AM. After 12 AM, the unruly and unprofessional drivers come back drunk, park next to you, and disappear without a trace until the afternoon. Nobody knows whose car it is! The Wi-Fi is terrible and needs to be boosted to cover all the rooms! I wrote this for so long because I felt it was necessary to share what happened to me so the hotel management would improve its services, otherwise it will fail. It's a shame, especially with its great location close to everything! One thing I must say is that the breakfast staff, receptionists, doormen, porters, and valet are all very helpful and do their jobs properly. I remember Maryam in the restaurant; she was incredibly helpful and had excellent manners. It's a shame these people are being treated by such a terrible management!

I was impressed by everything about the hotel the location, staff, cleanliness, reception, breakfast, tranquility, and many other aspects, Special thanks to Mr. Fares, who was extremely helpful and cooperative with us, and thanks to the entire staff as well. Everything in the hotel was wonderful, but the most beautiful part was the team, their professionalism, and their warm, wonderful smiles.
