Caption By Hyatt Namba Osaka

We stayed three nights at this property and I was left with mostly disappointment. This is considered a 4 star hotel, however the lack of amenities and service made it feel closer to a 1 or 2 star property. Unfortunately this Caption does not hold itself to the same standards as any other Hyatt I have stayed at, including Hyatt Place in Kyoto (which was a very pleasant experience, in contrast). • Upon entering our room, the first thing my husband noticed was the dirty underside of the toilet. • The TV remote, keycard readers, and elevators all did not work very well. For a newly built hotel this was baffling that everything already seemed to be falling apart. Much more something I would have expected for an older hotel. Everything was clearly cheap. • The AC was capped at 20c, but frankly the room felt much warmer than even that. I had difficulty sleeping due to the combination of a warm room and bedsheets that seemed extremely cheap and like they captured heat. • The washing machine was unusable. It did not accept Japanese coins or any credit cards, it only accepted Japanese payment methods via apps, so foreigners were unable to use it. • Bathroom amenities were held at the front desk only, so every day we had to go to the lobby and pick up razors, qtips etc. rather than these being stocked by house keeping. Again, this lack of service was what I would expect to receive from a 1 star hotel. • As a Hyatt Discoverist, we should receive two free water bottles per day. However, this hotel only provided a water fill up station which was only located on one floor in the entire hotel. • Breakfast was very bland and guests had to provide services for themselves. Much more of a cafeteria style where we had to pick up the trays of food ourselves and bring the empty dishes and garbage back. For the price of the food and 4 star level of the hotel, I would have expected the staff to wait on tables rather than guests doing everything themselves. Overall, Caption did not live up to the standards of any other Hyatt or 4 star hotel. It already felt extremely run down due to the cheap feel of everything, so I can only imagine what it will be like in a few years.

The hotel was clean and quiet at night. The location is great, with a market, a restaurant, and a shopping street nearby. I'd definitely like to return to this hotel!

Honestly better than expected. I travel a ton and the Staff here was great. Rooms very nice and nice views. I’d come back in a heartbeat.
