A hefty price for a night's sleep that—like so many things in life—ultimately proves to be nothing more than an illusion. This establishment is a remarkable architectural testament: It poignantly demonstrates what happens when you trade investment for nostalgic inertia. The staff? Well, they were all actually friendly. Friendliness is often the last, touching effort when the real product, the room, is an outrage. The building: This house isn't "vintage," it's simply overdue for renovation. The ceiling panels looked as if they were only clinging to their positions out of politeness. I like surprises, but not the kind that give the impression they might fall on my head. That doesn't just create a feeling of insecurity; it's a blatant threat. The bathroom: The toilet flushed incessantly. A constant, quiet trickle, perfectly suited to the eternal flow of time or the sea, except here it's incredibly irritating. The showerhead was a work of art in the guise of neglect: thick with limescale, practically unusable. You could say it was as steeped in history as this entire hotel. Comfort & Climate: The windows were drafty. Wonderful, when you're in a spa town and the cold draft greets you like an uninvited guest. And the balcony? It didn't invite you to linger; it begged for a complete overhaul. You pay around 100 euros for a standard room, but you get a history lesson in decay. This isn't the standard you expect; this is a business model that has seen better days. What a shame.

The room was clean and spacious, but a bit dated. The service at reception and at breakfast was pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was very good and had everything you could want. The only downside for us, as we had booked three rooms together with friends, was an unpleasant noise that lasted all night. It seemed to be coming from either the bathroom fan or the heating system and kept us all awake. We informed reception in the morning and were told they would take care of it. 🤷‍♂️ The location is very nice, right on the Nahe River, and the pedestrian zone is about 800 meters away.

Despite everything, there are a few minor points of criticism. The heating system urgently needs bleeding; the noise at night was unpleasant. When the room cleaning service comes, it would be nice if the used dishes from the previous day were replaced and the used tea bags were refilled with new ones.
