There are no words to describe the owner's hospitality and kindness. We spent a wonderful weekend in Brussels, thanks in large part to her advice. Everything was wonderful, the apartment. Top location! Really central, 20 seconds from the Menneken Pis statue. Delicious breakfast. Unfortunately, we didn't speak much English, but we managed to communicate very well and hope to return soon! If we ever pass through Brussels again, we'd love to say hello! ✨ A perfect stay in Brussels! ✨ We had the pleasure of staying at the Carmélite Guesthouse and everything was absolutely perfect! A warm welcome from Pascal and Akemi, attentive and helpful hosts, comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms… we felt right at home from the moment we arrived ❤️. Breakfast was a real treat: varied, generous, and prepared with care, ideal for starting the day off right. The location is also a huge plus: everything is within walking distance for exploring Brussels and its wonders. A charming place that we recommend without hesitation. Thank you again for this wonderful stay, we will definitely be back! 🌟

Male host was rude and unwelcoming. Note that this Carmelite GuestHouse is a 3 story historical bldg with several very narrow and steep flights of stairs. We had to carry our 2 heavy suitcases up steep and narrow stairs as the male Host said he had a bad back. When we asked why the website said it's a 2 story hotel guest house, he said in a belittling tone: "You Americans, you don't understand, ground Floor is Zero, then 1st floor, then 2nd floor, which is where the guest room is". What a statement! Very unwelcoming! When my husband asked if there were other guests coming, he told us that if that is the case, we would have to share the room with them. He could have told us nicely that there is only one room in the hotel, instead of making us aware in that manner. Very rude! When he was showing us the guest room, the sink faucet in the guest bathroom was unfamiliar to us. My husband asked him how to operate that faucet to get hot water. He annoyingly said that he does not know. When my husband asked how come he doesn’t know, he said that he does not use the guest bathroom. He is the host and doesn't know about if the bathroom has hot water or not? He then stated that there was a cat in the premises that comes and goes freely, and if we don't want the cat to go into our room, we must be sure to close the door as the cat is curious and explores. He then left us and went to his room as he said he had to work. I am severely allergic to cats and by that time, had started sneezing and coughing. My husband said we had to leave. He also has a bad back, and struggled to take our bags down the steep and narrow stairs. The host heard the noise and went out of his room. He annoyingly asked what were we doing. My husband told him that we are moving out as we could not stay there with my severe case of cat allergies: sneezing, coughing, hyperventilation, plus going up and down those steep stairs. He quickly said, “she’s not allergic!”. My husband replied “how did you know! Can you not see her sneezing and coughing?” He had no response to that. We also told him that we could not go up and down the steep and narrow stairs during our proposed stay. We told him that he was very rude and unwelcoming. He said that even if we leave, he would bill us for the whole stay. We offered to pay for 1 night but he insisted that he would charge us for 3 nights of stay. I had to sign the bill because I felt very intimidated at that point. When my husband, who had been occupied bringing down the luggages by himself, learned about the bill, he told the host that we will dispute the bill. We frequently travel and were appalled at the attitude of the male host. Imagine if we had recommended this place and our friends would experience this type of treatment. It would be a terrible experience to be subjected to this ungracious and rude treatment in Brussels. We do not recommend the Carmelites Guesthouse.
