We stopped for lunch and I can say without a doubt that it was spectacular—Eduardo's kindness, the restaurant, the surroundings, and the food... We had fabada (Asturian bean stew), tripe, and lamb that couldn't have been more tender, a true spectacle of flavor, rosemary, and a smooth texture... In short, it had been a long time since we'd eaten food prepared with such care. As for the house itself, I could easily live there. The fireplace, the stone walls, the decorative details, the dog Bimba... A magnificent place to enjoy peace and quiet and good traditional Galician food. We'll be back.

I live in New Orleans. This place reminded me of some of my favorite boutique places here. Sometimes the hot water isn't perfect. The rooms are all different and sometimes strange. My wife and I stayed in a room that had a bed that I think was three beds pushed together. It was like the little old lady in the shoe and her bed for all ten children. I loved it! I don't know why it was so big but it was fun. The room also had a balcony I could barely fit on but i made sure to have some crackers and cheese and wine like things I've read about, there might not be much to do there except imagine Don Quixote and Sancho might be about to show up and sit by the fire with you which brings me to the real reason I'm writing this review. I didn't see it in the pictures but for me the main reason to go here is to sit in this fire place. Yes, I said sit in it. It's the original part of the house built in the 1500s. There's an old church bench and a couple of chairs. There's was always a fire, I was there in the spring. I was there three nights and did almost nothing but sit in that fire place. And rest and meditate. One night some Euopean pilgrims showed up that we connected with. We ate dinner together in the restaurant family style and then sat around that fire drinking wine and learning how alike we all can be. That fireplace is a sacred space. Change your expectations to one of showing up to a distant relative or some inn keeper your friend recommended you to on your pilgramige. Imagine it's two or three hundred years ago, it could be more than 500 literaly, and all of a sudden you will be greatful for whatever shows up there. Turn your phone off and visit back in time. Start by sitting at that fireplace, look up into the chimney, enjoy the acoustic covers cd that i forgot the name of because i was enjoying myself so much just being. It's a different kind of experience if you've never hung out by the fire with friends and strangers and if you have done that a lot it's a religious experience sitting at a family and friends gathering spot over 500 years old. It's not Holiday Inn, thank God!
