Objectively this rating is probably a bit harsh, but we stayed at 4 diffent hotels during our two weeks in the area and I found the Amfora to have the lowest value for money. First, the good things: - location is nice, with a small private beach and a beautiful view - restaurant is really good (even if we never had the chance to have the fresh fish on the menu) - overall the staff is nice (particularly one waitress) - the sauna is a nice bonus The small things (that adds up): - rooms could use a good rejuvenation (wallpaper peeling off, loose sockets, bathroom ventilation awfully noisy and inefficient...) - absolutly no soundproofing : you can ear everyone coming and going in the (very loud) stairs and lobby. An alarm is beeping every 5s day and night at the front desk (apparently this is normal and you cannot turn it off...) and you can ear it from the rooms. - really not enough parking space (and you cannot just park in the street there) - some waiters are really not paying attention at all. I am not into stiff, standing to attention servants : I like to have a casual nice time with waiters and I get that they too can have bad days (with anoying customers 😁) but here I found it to be a bit too much. Some staff membres NEVER pay attention to you even if you are the only customer in the room, too busy on their phones or chatting loudly. I get that shifts can be long and boring and I don't mind you using your phone but maybe look around once in a while. We ended up several time leaving the table without taking desert, coffee or anything after becoming tired of waiting for the waiter to notice that yes, we were still there. - from the "mountain view" rooms you can hear the road a lot. So as you can see, these are only small things that WON'T stop you from having a good stay, but when you add them up it is a bit too much for a 4* hôtel, especially when you enjoyed "better" places for similar prices.
