CASA MALENA

I've been traveling to Greece for many years, always to different islands. Crete is always my favorite. 👍I hadn't heard of Malia until now. I'm traveling alone this summer and am here in Malia for 14 days. Today is Tuesday, September 16, 2025, and I'm enjoying my last few days before heading back to wet Germany on Saturday. I can offer the following summary about the accommodation: I like to stay in hotels, vacation homes, or apartments. Always different. CASA Malena is an apartment. The welcome upon arrival from the two hosts was warm and welcoming🤗just like the Greeks are🤗a friendly, welcoming people🤗I didn't find the room I was assigned to beautiful or comfortable from the very first second🙈The view from the terrace was of an unfinished construction site, of which there are numerous here🙈Either the Greeks have run out of money, or it takes forever to complete a project😂It's probably also due to the weather and climate here😂It's September and the sun is still blazing like crazy😊The chairs on the terrace are old and extremely uncomfortable🙈Besides, I couldn't stay outside for more than 5 minutes because there's no sun protection🙈Nevertheless, I took the room for now because I just wanted to settle in😊The next morning, I went to the housekeeper and tried to explain the problem. Unfortunately, she hardly speaks any English, and communication was very difficult. 🙈but in the 21st century everyone has a cell phone with a translation program😂and it worked great🤗she offered me a room in the other apartment, which however could not be moved into until the following Sunday, a week later🙈so I had no choice but to make the best of it😊I spend my days at the beach anyway🤗then I was able to move into the new apartment and was satisfied.. The terrace chairs are super comfortable, the kitchen equipment and utensils, better equipped than in the previous apartment.. I also think that single travelers are often given rooms that are not so well equipped🙈according to the motto.. She's a woman, and she won't complain 😂😂but not with me😂😂the town of Malia itself has a lot to offer.. Great tavernas, nightlife if you want, but also peace and quiet which you are looking for🤗however, this is also a place that shows the traces of waste separation, the doesn't exist here, can be seen every day🙈Greece has been levying a tourist tax since last year.. It depends on the star category of the accommodation.. The money should be invested in the infrastructure.. But it's dirty in many places 🙈 they should start making an effort to separate waste 🙈 as for the apartment, it's very noisy🙈 Conclusion.. I wouldn't go to Malia again.. The apartment was okay, but didn't meet my expectations 🙈 there are definitely nicer places in Greece, especially on Crete🤗 nevertheless, I would like to mention again that the hosts of the accommodation always tried to make my holiday as pleasant as possible, as far as the apartment was concerned🤗 thank you so much again for that ❤️

A super nice, yet simple, and quiet apartment. Friendly managers and excellent service, and within walking distance of shops and the beach.
