A truly enviable location, just steps from the Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli, but the room could definitely be improved, even with the small touches: the coat rack hung backwards (with the hooks facing the wall), the TV bracket miraculously holding up, and some minor masonry work wouldn't hurt given the state of some of the walls. The view was lacking, but whatever, we didn't really care. Luckily we had our own shower gel, otherwise the one in the shower would have run out, and the cleaning staff hadn't refilled it. The next morning, we couldn't shower because there was no hot water. When we reported this, we were told the maintenance man would have to arrive, and that they had notified the main office and other sources. In fact, we left without being able to shower with hot water (on New Year's Day, in freezing temperatures), nor even a €1 discount or anything else to apologize for what happened. Another thing we definitely didn't like was the service offered by the reception. We asked for information about the city bus to the station, and were sent to the bus stop... too bad the lady didn't warn us that on New Year's Day, from 1-1:30 PM to approximately 3-3:30 PM, the city buses don't run. How were we supposed to know? They do run in other places, and it's not the same everywhere. Maybe a local, who also does this job, would know. So we went to the bus stop, waited a bit, and then asked some people who had informed us about it, and then walked the whole way back, plus another kilometer and a half, to get to the central station, loaded like mules and with a child in tow. I've worked in hotels for years, and this is information that's generally given out, and if you don't know for sure, you'd do some research to provide more timely customer service.
