Positives: - The location of the hotel is excellent.. close to plaza de major and plaza regocijo. Walking distance from shopping and the central market. - Hotel is clean and well maintained. - Staff is generally helpful Negatives: *Biggest issue for US travelers* - Toilet Paper cannot be flushed. We had a clogged toilet the first day we got here. I called front desk and the person came up and looked at the toilet and said oh.. you cannot flush toilet paper, you have to put it in the trash bin next to the toilet. Then he claimed that they have some notice somewhere to this effect, but could not find it anywhere. If this is true, they should mention this in bold on their room details when booking as it's definitely a deal breaker for me. Then he proceeded to find a plunger and handed me the plunger and left. While I am conflicted about who should have unclogged the toilet, this didnt feel like good service and like I said I would not have booked this hotel if I knew that toilet paper could not be flushed. NONE of the other hotels we stayed at in Peru had this issue and we stayed at 4 other hotels. Stairs! Watch out if you have senior citizens or altitude sickness. Our rooms were on the second and third floor and there are no elevators. Getting to the second floor is about 18 stairs. Getting to the third floor is another 22 stairs. By the time you get to the room you will be winded. While it is supposed to be a colonial architecture and looks good in the pictures, the rooms are overloaded with furniture and stuff. They can easily get rid of the in-room carpets, reduce the number of chairs and definitely reduce the number of blankets on each bed. Each bed had a sheet + 2 thick fleece blankets + a thick comforter on top! We ended up shoving everything but the sheet and maybe one fleece blanket on the floor every night as it was warm. Breakfast is minimal - they have the pita like peruvian bread + butter and jam, fruits and one kind of cheese and some ham. They prepare omelettes, but frankly the omelettes were not very good. The fried eggs were better for sure. Coffee does not come with hot milk or cream.. they had lactose free milk in a carton and that's it. Breakfast room is very tight.. basically with two sets of tables on either side, but if a family is using one of the tables.. it's almost impossible to get in to the chairs at the adjacent table. Toilets are small, but clean.
