Nice enough hotel, rooms a bit dated. Could be maintained better (the room we stayed in had sand on the shelves when we arrived). Staff is nice and helpful. The free shuttle is very useful. They have games onsite (corn hole, table tennis etc) and s board game library in the lobby. I haven’t tried the restaurant because it was closed when we arrived but they have some emergency food supplies to purchase in the lobby, in case you get stuck. And you might get stuck, like we did! The hotel is dog friendly which is why we chose it but it’s at the top of the hill so be aware that if you arrive late or want fresh pastries and coffee first thing in the morning, you have to make the trip down the hill because there’s nothing else up there. That’s what we had to do every morning and not sure I would do that again.

My daughter, her husband, and their new baby recently stayed at Catalina Canyon Inn while celebrating her 30th birthday on Catalina Island. Before the trip, I secretly called the hotel hoping to arrange a small surprise for her since I couldn't be there in person. That's when I had the pleasure of speaking with Dawn Meracle, and from the very beginning she was warm, kind, and eager to help. Even though there are no florists on Catalina Island, Dawn generously offered to go down into town herself to find flowers and even stopped at a local candy shop to pick up chocolates. She beautifully arranged everything in the room before my daughter and her family arrived so the surprise would be waiting for them. Her thoughtfulness and geniune care made all the difference and helped create such a special memory for our family. Acts of kindness like this truly stand out and should never go unnoticed. Thank you, Dawn, for going above and beyond and for helping make my daughter's 39th birthday celebration so meaningful. You are a wonderful example of true hospitality. Empolyees like Dawn are the reason people remember a place long after the trip is over.
