Great location on the seafront. No staff around at arrival or check out Room was clean and sufficient for our needs, something reflective of the price Nice hot shower in the morning

I booked to stay at this guesthouse 10 months in advance and was contacted before arriving to say they didn’t have a room available and needed to move me to their partner business, The Pier Hotel. I tried getting in touch to discuss this via phone and message and all contact was ignored. The new accommodation was completely inappropriate. There was nobody available for check in and I wasn’t provided with the door code because I hadn’t been sent a new confirmation email and was unable to reach them. The hotel was next to a nightclub and the noise was excessive. We checked out after night 1 of a 3 night break. I tried to contact the Guest House regarding the issue and they have ignored all methods of contact. Hotels.com did get hold of them once after trying for days on end - the guest house refused any refund but offered credit if I got in touch with them. Again, they have not been answering any communications. I have been left out of pocket. Their accommodation is awful and customer service non-existent. Rude and incompetent. Definitely avoid!!!!

Somewhat mystified as to how I ended up staying at the Pier Hotel round the corner, when I was under the impression I'd booked a room with a seaview at the Cardigan Bay Guest House. On arrival, a very confused man told me "Oh, I know what's happened. You're booked in the Pier Hotel," and gave me directions and a code for the door. He didn't actually explain what had happened though! I went to the Pier Hotel, put in the code and collected my key and was pleasantly surprised to find a spacious room and very spacious bathroom - although I didn't have a seaview, but did have an excellent vantage point to watch the comings and goings at the chicken shop. I was a bit puzzled by the notice saying "For maximum noise reduction, pull both sets of curtains", as it wasn't noisy at all... ...until 10pm when the Pier Hotel Bar apparently becomes a nightclub until about 2am (maybe 3am). Pulling both sets of curtains made no difference at all because a) one of the outside windows is jammed open and b) the noise is inside the same building. The music was so loud I could actually discern the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody over the dialogue from the TV in the room. On day 2 the curtains fell off the rails. I hardly got any sleep for the three nights I was there, but the bed was very comfortable, all the lights and sockets worked, and the bathroom was surprisingly nice, and the shower was powerful, warm and easy to operate. At one point I did look round the corner outside my room and discover the rest of the corridor was absolutely full of junk and cleaning equipment. I never met any staff apart from the chap on reception at the other hotel. Generally just a very odd experience.
