What a stay! JB - an absolute legend. Great service, perfect location, and had one of the best massages in the Chapter House Spa. Couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay for our 2 nights in Franschhoek. 10/10

Chapter House Boutique Hotel - a Franschhoek Haven After the buzz of Cape Town and a few days on safari in Kruger the 3 night stay in one of the most relaxing and beautiful few days in The Chapter House Boutique Hotel was the perfect way to end our vacation on a high note. I've stayed in the Ritz London, the Waldorf in New York and countless 'boutique' hotels throughout the world, but this place is something special. From the moment we arrived from our Hoedspruit flight the welcome we received has special. Wesley met us at the drop off and our cases disappeared to be brought to our room. The atmosphere is one of total calm and relaxation where every detail of furnishing and decor adds to the ambiance. Our room (7) had a private plunge pool, the toiletries were luxurious and the beds extremely comfortable leaving us with a few days of total calm and peacefulness. At breakfast everything is freshly prepared, with a full selection of wonderfully fresh buffet starters with individually prepared menu items. A nice touch is the afternoon treat of freshly made cake with tea of coffee (The tea was perfect!) The position of the hotel could not be better. You are within a few minutes walk of the Franschhoek Main Street with all the wonderful restaurants within walking distance as was the wine tram and the lovely Franschhoek Market (Open St & Sunday). To relax the pool area was private with extremely comfortable loungers and chairs. The staff were so professional and yet with a friendly manner that made us so welcome. A trip to South Africa would not be complete now without a visit to this wonderful hotel.

Really dreadful service if you cancel your booking and need a refund. Think very carefully before handing over your deposit. We were originally booked to stay here in November, but our travel plans changed and in August we cancelled. Three months later, unbelievably we are still waiting for our deposit to be refunded. We have had a series of excuses (problems with their card machine, "technical" problems at the bank), and promises that payment was coming that have not been fulfilled. Ironically today we got one of those automated emails saying that they were looking forward to welcoming us at the hotel, for a stay that we had cancelled three months earlier. Unbelievably poor experience really - I suspect the same applies to the rest of the "living journey" hotel group, as it is the head office people that deal with refunds (or rather fail to deal).
