City Hotel Fortuna

Typical seminar hotel. Rooms were decent and clean. The seminar room was bright and suitable. Due to low occupancy, we didn't have a buffet for lunch and dinner, but rather a pre-ordered set menu. Breakfast was a buffet. The food was of good quality and tasty. The staff is very friendly and always tries their best to accommodate everyone. The fitness area is adequate for a bit of exercise in the afternoon or evening. The sauna area is also functional and fine. Two improvements would be desirable: a rail with hooks in the sauna area so that towels and bathrobes can be hung up, and enough keys for the in-room safe. I didn't understand this at all. It's supposed to have a keypad, but you're supposed to get a key from reception. They checked there to see if any were available. Doesn't every safe have an individual key? Despite the low occupancy, there were no keys available. A bit odd. But otherwise, as a centrally located hotel, everything is fine.

I was here for a two-day business seminar. The hotel isn't anything special. It's your typical seminar hotel. I informed the hotel in advance that I'm vegan! It actually started quite well. The seminar was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Coffee, oat milk, and a wide selection of fruit were available. I thought that was great. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Things went downhill from lunch onwards – the buffet. The salad bar had a good selection, but unfortunately, only pre-made dressings without any information about what they were, and no vinegar or oil. There were no options for me as a vegan. Unfortunately, the same problems continued at dinner... Breakfast the next morning somewhat salvaged things. At least there was margarine, vegetables, muesli, and oat milk. Unfortunately, there were no other vegan alternatives for the bread. For lunch, at least there were vegetables again, and at least there was fried potato and salad... There's a lot of room for improvement when it comes to food – it's 2025, and veganism isn't anything special anymore. ... Unfortunately, there are a few issues with the room. I think it was a former smoking room. Even with the window open, the smell of smoke was still noticeable. I don't have a problem with that now, but what if it were? At least the fitness/wellness area on the fourth floor was impressive. Conclusion: Four stars? - The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, the hotel's handling of special dietary requirements was inadequate. I hope this will improve.
