A very nice hotel, and a great value for Oslo. The staff are very helpful and kind to guests of the hotel as well as those using the bar or lounge facilities.

Big Design, Bigger Breakfast at The Hub Clarion Hotel The Hub delivers exactly what I want from a central Oslo business hotel: a stylish, well-designed room, excellent meeting facilities and – most importantly here – an outstanding breakfast and lunch offering. I stayed one night on a work trip in November and was given room 528, a relatively large designer room with bold colours (you can see the palette clearly in my photos). Cleaning was spotless, the bed genuinely comfortable and I slept well. There was a Nespresso machine, decent storage and reliable, free Wi-Fi with strong coverage throughout the hotel. The view was nothing special, but given the city-centre location that did not surprise me. Location is a major strength. It is only a few minutes’ walk from Oslo Central Station, with the Airport Express Train to Gardermoen, and you are right by the city centre’s restaurants and shops. For a business trip, that convenience is hard to beat. Service at check-in was friendly and efficient. I was asked what kind of room I preferred, and the receptionist did her best to match my requests. Being able to handle everything smoothly in Norwegian was a plus. The hotel leans heavily into colourful, slightly playful design in the public areas, which creates a lively atmosphere. My photos from the lobby give a good sense of the style. However, background music was on the loud side for my taste. Where The Hub really stands out is food quality during the day. Both breakfast and lunch offered an unusually wide selection of hot and cold dishes for a Norwegian hotel, with good ingredients and attractive presentation. The rooftop restaurant, however, did not impress for dinner – neither food quality nor service lived up to the standard set earlier in the day, despite the lovely city views. What could be improved • Turn the background music down a notch in the public areas. • Review dinner quality and service standards in the rooftop restaurant. Final verdict At around NOK 2,200 per night, I would happily stay here again for business, mainly for the location and the excellent breakfast and lunch. If you go • Ask for a higher-floor room for less tram noise and a better chance of a view. • Plan to eat breakfast and lunch in-house, but keep dinner expectations modest in the rooftop restaurant. • Arrive by train from the airport if you can – the short walk from Oslo S with luggage is very manageable.
