Clarion Inn Sheffield Muscle Shoals

First, I want to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to leave honest reviews about this property. Thankfully, my wife read them before I left on my golf trip with the boys. After reading those reviews, she very wisely packed me my own sheets and towels — a decision that quite literally saved me!! Now… where do I even begin? The moment I walked into the hotel lobby, I was hit with a strong odor that can only be described as an abandoned dive bar from the 1980s. The place was severely outdated, but hey — I didn’t let that kill the vibe. We were here for golf, after all. That optimism ended the second I opened the door to my room. The smell of mold and mildew hit me so hard it actually took my breath away. I’m not exaggerating. As I walked farther in, I realized the carpet was so damp and mildewed that actual grass was growing inside the room. Inside. The room. On the carpet. Since we were on the ground floor, I tried to open the sliding door to get some air. After wrestling with it, I finally got it open — only to discover it wasn’t even locked. Outside, I saw the back wall of the building completely covered in moss and mold, stretching all the way up to the third floor. At that point, I was questioning every life decision that brought me there. I went straight to the front desk in disbelief. To be fair, the woman working there was very kind and moved us to a third-floor room. Next stop: the elevator. I was honestly shocked it worked at all. Most of the buttons were burned off, there was a constant puddle of water in the middle of the floor, and a permanent “Wet / Slippery” sign just living there like it gave up hope long ago. Miraculously, the doors opened, and we made it upstairs. The new room was… better. No visible spores floating through the air, which felt like a win, but there was still a lingering damp smell that never quite left. Wanting to keep the boys’ trip alive, I powered through. I took a shower and dried myself off with the towels my wife packed (thank God). When it was time to sleep, I laid down my own sheets — again, thank God — because I genuinely would have preferred sleeping outside on the ground over touching the bedding provided. I am absolutely shocked that any corporation would attach its name to this property, let alone allow it to remain open. If you are reading this review, stay anywhere else. I am warning you now — enter at your own risk. If you have a car, sleep in it. If you have another option, take it. Just stay far, far away from this hotel. You’ve been warned!!! !!!AWFUL!!!

The room was exactly as it said online.. The bed was soft, the sheets were clean and the whole room was as well.. Very nice people at the desk.. Also the room was extremely low price for the quality

The bathroom had mold in it because there's no vent fan. The bathroom drain didn't work properly.
