I landed in Bodø at midnight, and my connecting flight wasn't until 6:00 AM. I had no idea the airport in that city would be closing, so I looked for somewhere to wait until 4:00 AM (when it reopened). Unfortunately, all the hotels were fully booked, including this one. So I sat down in the lobby. The woman working there, however, threw me out. She said this was a hotel, not a waiting area. I explained the situation to her, but she simply said it wasn't her problem. Outside it was -12 degrees Celsius, in the middle of the night, and I was alone, a young woman in a foreign country. I had tears in my eyes because I didn't know where to go. I asked her if there was a hospital nearby, to which she replied very rudely that I certainly couldn't stay there either. I have never in my entire life felt so disrespected and treated so condescendingly. She also added that she'd had bad experiences with people in the lobby. I'm a young entrepreneur and didn't exactly give the impression of being a vagrant. I'm shocked that I received so little humanity in such a desperate situation. I was incredibly scared, alone outside in the cold at night. Thank God I found the Scandic Havet Hotel, where they immediately realized how frozen I was, even offered me a hot coffee, and let me sit in the lobby until the airport opened (it was only two hours, but in those temperatures, they were vital). I find such behavior from a hotel more than shameful and utterly unacceptable. The concept of compassion seems to be foreign to them.
