Comfort Inn & Suites Glenwood Springs On The River

For someone just passing through that needs a place to stay it is serviceable. This location is suboptimal for a family vacation. Our check went smoothly and the young lady was very pleasant and helpful. We immediately grabbed our luggage and once we got to our room, the key finally opened the door after several attempts. The initial impression ok. Room seemed clean and as advertised. We soon discovered the full kitchen was sparsely furnished including 4 spoons, 5 forks, two drinking glasses, no coffee pods in the single serve coffee maker, and no mixing/prep bowls. Plates, bowls, and cookware was sufficient. When I asked about this I was told the rooms are furnished as is. As previously stated, serviceable for a single overnight. As for the rest of the accommodations, there were two king beds which are consistent with entry level discount mattresses, pillows that were likely in the discount bin at a box store, sand paper smooth sheets, and a couch which seemed to be the most comfortable piece of furniture (excluding the pull out mattress). The room size was decent and the bathroom was not bad but nothing special. There was a small deck which was nice for some fresh air. The next day, when I decided to use the gym facility, I was unable to access it because my card key would not work. When I went to the front desk, the gentleman smugly stated “it’s because you were holding it next to your phone.“ Then he went on to explain to me how magnets can desensitize the card key. I stated that I’ve been keeping it in my wallet and he reiterated his previous quote that it could cause it to be deactivated as well. Now if you recall earlier in my review, this card key barely work from the first moment I used it. Fortunately for me, this is not the first hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I know that a card key can be in my wallet and still completely functional. After my education on how card keys and magnets work, I was in given replacement keys and so graciously offered another paper card holder to “protect the keys.“ The complementary breakfast is pretty much what you would expect. It included soggy sausage, make your own waffles, toast, danishes, and cardboard like eggs. That was the least of my worries because it’s pretty much what I expected. The location is reasonable and everything in Glenwood is easy to access. As stated multiple times in this review, if you need a place to stay overnight, this place is perfectly fine. If you’re planning a family vacation stay somewhere else. This is not my first trip to Glenwood and will not be my last, but I definitely will not be residing this Comfort Inn and Suites again.

Room was ok but my kids found an empty fireball bottle under the bed the first night we stayed there. The microwave was unplugged and we found out why after using it and going to bed: It was making a noise that at first we thought was the mini fridge, so we decided to keep it unplugged. We requested help from the staff a few times for different things and the response left much to be desired. Overall, I would say it was average, but I don't think we'll be staying here second time.
