Comfort Inn & Suites Orange County John Wayne Airport

So my stay at this hotel started off fine . I have no complaints about the rooms themselves , and the breakfast was decent . However , the reason the stay went from what would have been 3 stars down to 1 star, is solely due to the unprofessional and blatantly disrespectful staff at the front desk , specifically from the manager working Saturday mornings , who says her name is Betsy. I want to start by saying that I understand everyone has a job to do and that there are hotel policies and part of the job of the front desk staff is to enforce those policies accordingly . I’m not knocking anyone for doing their job . That being said, when someone is using their word against mine dishonestly in order to keep my money , I have a problem with that. That is the treatment I received from Betsy this afternoon. I asked for a late checkout for 12 pm and was approved for it, but I ended up taking longer , which i expected some kind of a minor fee for . No big deal, it was my bad . The first person I was speaking with told me they were charging me $50 dollars for late checkout , which was already steep but I honestly would have just accepted it , taken the other 50, and went on my way. However, while I was speaking with the first employee , Betsy walked up behind her and aggressively started telling me that I would not be receiving any of my deposit money back, even though I had just been told I’d be getting 50 back. I explain that to her, but she clearly had made up her mind that she had no intentions of giving me back any of my money and that if I did not leave the property , she was going to call the police and “tell them everything I was doing in my room,” which was in my opinion an odd thing to say considering she was never in my room at any point, so I don’t really know what she meant . I told her I wouldn’t be leaving until I spoke to either her manager or got ahold of someone on their corporate phone . Anyway, the police never came (I have a feeling she never called them) And corporate basically told me I’d have to wait til Monday when her supervisor comes in and take it up with her, which I’ll be doing although it’s extremely inconvenient and frustrating that I am left having to fight to get back a deposit that is technically supposed to be held for damages to the room , which there were none . I travel quite a bit, I deal with hotel staff all of the time , and I must say that not once have I encountered someone as unpleasant, unprofessional, and aggressive as Betsy. I truly hope that the hotel management look into this because as I said before, my stay was decent up until this incident . I’m now charged $100 for being less than an hour late checking out , which is actually more than the room cost before the deposit for an entire 24 hour stay. Absolutely ridiculous . Wouldn’t recommend staying here .

Room outdated. Not enough towels. Needs total renovation

The hotel is in a good location with some decent restaurants nearby, and from the outside it looks fine. Unfortunately, the room was not clean. The bed sheets had lots of small hairs, which made it uncomfortable and unhygienic. It didn’t feel like the room had been properly cleaned, and we did not feel comfortable sleeping there. Location alone doesn’t make up for poor cleanliness. This place needs much better housekeeping standards.
