Expensive rooms but a great vacation

I planned my son’s 5th birthday party here just this past weekend. I called and spoke with the staff several weeks / months ago to make sure my guests could purchase day passes on the day of the party since my son and I were the only ones getting an actual room. The people I spoke with on the phone were very short and not informative/ helpful with my questions. I was never told on the phone that you cannot purchase day passes on the weekends. I book the hotel for the ENTIRE weekend and we show up Friday only to be told by Lora at the front desk that you cannot purchase day passes on the weekends. Now my entire weekend is ruined and I’m out a birthday party for my child. We end up having to forfeit our second nights stay and leave early in order to last minute put together a birthday party elsewhere for my son. Then today I emailed the manager , crystal maglott. I explained in detail the situation and how upset and disappointed I am at the way things turned out for the weekend. She simply told me there’s nothing she can do and she refuses to refund me for the second nights stay. We left early Saturday morning , before 11:00 so there should be absolutely no reason why they can’t refund me or at least credit me a nights stay. Extremely unimpressed with the staff and the misleading information that their website states , and then you try to call and speak with someone on the phone and they’re extremely unhelpful. I was told also by Lora that it could’ve been a third party call service answering the phone when I called and they just “didn’t know what they were talking about” however when I asked another staff member , Rachel about this , she confirmed the phone number on google IS the correct phone number to their hotel and I shouldn’t have been re routed. This is also the number on their business card. I wouldn’t be this upset had the manager done the right thing and refunded my stay which was $200 for just one night ! we didn’t even stay both nights ! I will know for the future to be more upfront about my questions and direct with staff despite them being unhelpful and make sure to document names and times that I speak with people because this is all completely unacceptable. I only recommend staying here if you want to be completely ripped off!

The lobby is presentable and well kept. The staff is okay and somewhat attentive. Once you get past the lobby and go into the halls it begins to smell musty. You can tell that they keep up with the cleaning but you can’t still smell the mustiness under it. The room was so stuffy feeling. We did wind up getting a new room due to what looked like bedbug reside on both beds. They put us in the room directly next to the one that we were already in and of course that room had the same issue. It was awkward enough complaining the one time and didn't want to complain again just to be put in another room with the same issues. We did not see any bugs at all in either rooms but the beds DEFINITELY had the residue from where they had bugs before. It was excused as the maid having bloody fingers while putting sheets on, not sure how that would be any better of any excuse but okay. The lighting is not updated at all, you have to use lamps and it doesn’t light the room up all the way. Everything is very outdated. The bath water only stayed warm, not hot, for about 5 minutes tops. My kids had to take a cold bath because of how quickly the warm water ran out. Not to mention the water was actively draining with the stopper closed. The pool area was great. Lots for littles to do. The only concern is the pool floor, my boyfriend, son and I all hurt our feet after going down the slide and hitting the pool floor. Breakfast was good. There were lots of great options, including fresh fruit. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again mainly because of the building itself. It really really needs torn down and rebuilt. Any health inspector would have a field day with that place.
