Como Uma Ubud

We had an unbelievably amazing stay here. It was truly the perfect blend of relaxation and activity. We explored local sites and we stayed in and did a lot of the resort offered activities like yoga. The yoga every morning was the perfect start to the day we loved our instructor Budi, who had a lot of personality and made the classes fun. The hostel staff was exceptional. They were meticulous and cleaning our room and making sure we were well cared for at basically all times without being overbearing. I would stay here again and again

simply the best! and so deserving of it's no. 1 resort in the world ranking according to conde nast traveler. i have heard of this hotel's reputation most recently from a friend who stayed solo a few months ago and she couldnt stop gushing over how amazing this hotel was. the food was so fresh, wholesome and had a good variety of international and local cuisine. breakfast is a standout - the concept is semi buffet so while you can have a decent spread to pick and choose items, you can also have a breakfast dish prepared ala minute for you. all dishes were executed well with good quality ingredients. i loved the coconut yoghurt pots and the variety to healthsome (yet delicious) available for breakfast which is a rarity in many hotels. my fave breakfast dish was Real toast and the Zucchinni fritters. the service is amazing and warm you feel the service comes from the heart and is genuine. they are also very responsive. i recall informing them about the toilet door in the new gym and it got fixed before the next day when i went again (btw its a super new, spacious and well equipped gym if this matters to you!!). I also loved the emphasis on wellness - you will find organic smelling como shambhala bathroom amenties stocked everywhere in the bathrooms and toilets. i've also had the chance to try the como shambhala signature massage at the spa - this was the best ever. every stroke was intentional and the technique /skill of the the therapists are so consistent. it's not a hotel for you if you love opulent and flashy decor, instead it's so tasteful, luxurious and done with the right amount of balinese inspiration and modern minimalist touches. it was honestly so refreshing to come back to this understated hotel and to the neutral-toned rooms after a busy day out at the ubud town where it can get loud, busy and in-your face the hotel premises are also lovely to walk around it. so lush, green - it's set up like a garden maze and you will find it quite an experience to walk around, left right, up down the stoned paths. we also booked a village and market and rice paddy tour with the hotel and the guide (Made) was super informative and engaging. i highly recommend this tour to learn more about the balinese way of life. we went to the local traditional market where there were no tourists and we learnt about the local customs and fruit as we walked past the vendors. we also visited a local village and went into their home and understood the layout of the each family compound. how the family temple, bedrooms and ceremonial rooms should be located and how they live harmoniously with the divine and the environment. the rice paddy field was also a treat - not a tourist in sight and just miles and miles of beautiful green paddy fields. i would recommend booking any tours organised by the hotel. thank you for reading my essay and for making it this far! in short TLDR - highly recommended! you will not regret staying here, i promise!
