Coral Sea Marina Resort

Gorgeous location right by the sea with a breathtaking view overlooking the ocean from the balcony. I even slept outside on the balcony once when I was too sunburnt to bear the blanket touching my skin; it was very relaxing and refreshing. Very friendly staff and lots of amenities to enjoy, including a pool. On top of all this, my wife and I found the hotel restaurant to be the tastiest in the area and went back to eat there almost every day that we stayed.

We come here for lunch recently while on a "shore day" off a domestic Royal Caribbean cruise, and OMG... DELICIOUS FOOD, GORGEOUS SPOT!!! and the staff were all FABULOUS! I also come here back in 2015, and it still has that beautiful elegant relaxed vibe. On this occasion, my partner also purposed to me along the beautiful jetty after our to-die-for lunch and cocktails! The restaurant manager followed us out and video'd and took photos for us! It was absolutely magical. (My partner picked THE BEST SPOT, and the staff more than happy to help him make this our perfect moment)!!!! Highly recommend this spot for a relax, eat and play!!!! The place operates like a money-making machine — and what do I mean by that? The price is one of the most expensive I’ve paid for a room after over a month in Australia and countless hotel stays. On top of the hotel rate, I added another 60 Australian dollars for breakfast for myself and my partner. It turned out that breakfast didn’t include eggs or an omelet (available only for an extra charge), coffee was for an additional fee, and the breakfast itself was extremely limited. Although I informed them that I’m vegan, there were no options for me apart from a few pieces of fruit. (See attached breakfast menu — everything there requires extra payment.) When you arrive at the room, you’ll find only tea and coffee cups — nothing more. This is apparently meant to prevent guests from eating in their rooms and to push them to use the hotel restaurant, another way to extract more money. In every other hotel I’ve stayed in, there were at least basic amenities — plates, a microwave for heating food — but here, nothing. The intention is clear. It turned out that I needed to shorten my stay. I approached the front desk, explained the situation, and asked to shorten the reservation and get a refund for the extra night I had already paid for at reception. The answer was no. I emailed customer service at 4:00 p.m., but only received a reply the next morning at 9:49 a.m.—right before the mandatory 10:00 a.m. checkout. Obviously, since I hadn’t received a response earlier, I made other plans that evening rather than waiting until 20 minutes before checkout time. In summary: the location is excellent, the hotel and rooms are nice, but the management style is faulty. The constant feeling of being charged for every little thing is unpleasant, and the attention to guests is lacking. Therefore, this place is not recommended.
