Costanoa

You have to visit and stay at Costanoa!! The views from the property and the hiking trails behind the property are breathtaking. The ocean is just across the highway, with trails that lead to benches along the cliffs. The most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen. I cannot wait to return. I stayed for 2 nights in a tent with two beds. I was near the restrooms, very clean. The general store was great. All of the staff members were just fantastic, helpful, and kind.

We stayed at the RV park last August and were quite disappointed when we were asked to upgrade our accommodations or leave, due to my camper being a 2025 conversation. Leaving wasn't a problem; however, since everything they advertised was either not present or broken. The only amenities available were bicycle rentals and activities for young children, which were exorbantly overpriced, and the equipment was in disrepair; the bicycles looked like ones that other guests had left behind over the years. The bathrooms and showers were in disrepair and my children complained that the women's restrooms were filthy and they had to clean them prior to using them. The security on site was nosey and borderline oppressive. I felt like like I was doing something wrong just for being a guest there. The restaurant was good, although pricey, and the store had a good selection with competitive prices for a convenience/gift shop. The location had a great view of the ocean, but it was quite a hike to the beach, which wasn't accessible by car. To make matters worse, I was injured hopping a dilapidated fence when going to look at their at their non-existent horses. Luckily, I hadn't signed the online disclaimer form, so I was able to negotiate leaving with a refund for the rest of our reservation, and getting to limp out of there felt like I had gotten a "get out of jail free card". I can't speak for their lodge, but based on other reviews, the guests seem reasonably happy with their accommodations. The tent sites were a ghost town and the small RV sites were crowded beyond measure. I honestly don't know what the draw to this place is. It's too far out of the way to use as a hopping point, there's really no reason to stay there, since there are limited amenities, the cell coverage is poor, and beach is hard to get to. Unless your just looking for a place to stay and sit around or a venue to rent out for an event, where amenities are provided by the event, then don't wast your money. For what they charge, you might as well just check into a nice hotel in Santa Cruz, which is what we did for $500 a night. Guess they missed out on making that kind of money from us, but appearances can be deceiving...
