Courtyard by Marriott Dulles Airport Herndon

I stayed here for three nights, Monday through Wednesday, checking out Thursday. While the location is convenient for the airport and the shuttle was reliable, an experience during my stay significantly changed my overall impression. The hotel is very close to the airport and offers a free shuttle. In the mornings it runs every 30 minutes and was on time, and in the evenings it’s on demand and easy to arrange. The gym is also solid. It’s clean, well equipped, and better than average for an airport hotel. That said, there were several issues. There was no tea in the room and no free coffee or tea in the lobby. I’m not a big coffee drinker, but this was noticeable enough that I walked next door to the Hyatt for coffee. Hot water in the shower was inconsistent, sometimes hot and sometimes only warm. I also want to note that Google review photos prominently show a pool, but this property does not have one. I specifically checked with the front desk after seeing those photos, and they confirmed there is no pool, which was frustrating and misleading. The main reason for lowering this to two stars is something that happened with my room being serviced. I brought back coffee from the Hyatt next door and stored it in the mini fridge so I could have some the next morning. I had some Wednesday morning, put the lid back on, and asked for my room to be reset, which housekeeping did. On Thursday morning, when I went to finish the coffee, I opened it and found a large, mucusy substance floating inside. It was extremely disgusting, especially first thing in the morning. Overall, while the hotel is convenient and has a decent gym and shuttle, the lack of basic amenities, misleading pool photos, and the extremely unpleasant housekeeping-related incident left me with a very negative impression.

Bring your washroom supplies to feel comfortable ! Room cleaning is reduced so expect that also.

I had a highly unsatisfactory experience at this hotel. From the beginning, I felt unwelcome, and the staff appeared unprofessional and unfriendly in their interactions with guests. My reservation was made for three people and clearly included breakfast. However, the front desk refused to provide breakfast for all three guests, claiming that they were not informed of the number of occupants, despite this information being clearly stated in the reservation. Additionally, my experience at the hotel restaurant was particularly disappointing. The staff member responsible for serving guests behaved in an aggressive and disrespectful manner, creating the impression that the service was being provided as a favor rather than as part of a paid stay. This behavior was unacceptable and significantly detracted from the overall experience. I strongly encourage management to take this feedback seriously and address these issues by improving staff training and customer service standards.
