We arrived at the hotel right off Highway 20, next to the boardwalk. Unfortunately, we discovered that most stores were closed, which was a bit disappointing since the boardwalk looked so inviting. However, the ladies at the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful, providing us with plenty of recommendations. The hotel itself was very clean, and the rooms were even more so. It was a great option for a quick stay while traveling.

Came into the hotel last night so that we could go experience New Year’s got here. Customer service was horrible. God had no clue what he was doing. Could not get us checked in took an hour almost to get checked into the hotel. Had to end up buying it online then yeah then they charge me more money on top of what I paid for the room without even asking you’re telling me what it was for. Then there was absolutely no parking. Everything is full. Nobody’s parked in the correct places I would not recommend going to this place at all I am pissed right now cause they overcharged my card. I’m sitting at the desk at 8 o’clock in the morning. but I should be sleeping

First, I want to note that I have been a loyal Marriott member for over ten years, and throughout that time I have consistently had positive experiences. I have never before booked a non-changeable or non-cancellable reservation, and I can only assume that this booking for that particular type of room in March was made as an honest oversight. As soon as I realized that I would not be able to make it to Shreveport on the scheduled date, I promptly cancelled the reservation with the intention of rescheduling. It was only then that I discovered I had been charged $689. I immediately contacted the hotel, and the representative I spoke with explained that the reservation could not be changed, but that the taxes could be refunded. While I agreed to that partial refund, I still wanted the opportunity to speak with someone who might be able to explore other options, such as a date change or additional flexibility. I was told that I would need to contact Marriott corporate for further assistance. After contacting Marriott, I was informed that my concerns would be documented and sent directly to the hotel. Approximately two days later, I received an email from the General Manager, Nicholas Cooper. His response was extremely disappointing. The email simply bolded the words “non-changeable,” “non-cancellable,” and the date I cancelled, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. I was already fully aware of the policy and the date of cancellation. My intention was not to dispute the facts, but to have a meaningful conversation about possible alternatives. The response I received was generic, lacked empathy, and showed no attempt to understand my concerns or reach out to me personally. I have never had an experience like this at any other Marriott property, and this should not reflect the standard of service the brand represents. Marriott’s Wonderful Gestures philosophy emphasizes getting to know guests, caring about what matters most to them, and going out of the way to show genuine care. Unfortunately, this experience was far from memorable in a positive way. I did not feel heard, valued, or respected. The General Manager’s response came across as dismissive and indifferent, leaving me feeling like my loyalty and long-standing relationship with Marriott meant very little. I am not an occasional guest trying to “get by.” I am a long-term, loyal customer who simply hoped for understanding and professionalism. While I remain hopeful that future interactions will reflect the Marriott values I have come to expect, this experience was deeply disappointing.
