Courtyard by Marriott Tallahassee Downtown/Capital

This is the second time I’ve stayed here- once for a family event and once for a football game. I’ve stayed in rooms accessed by the same door # (entry) and everything in the room, worked. The showers were great, there was no smell to the rooms, and the linens were clean/crisp. The hair dryers worked well, and I’ve been satisfied with the coffee pot and iron. The staff were hands down some of the best staff I’ve ever worked with! My first stay, I arrived late at night, and heard voices in my room. I trekked back to the lobby and the rep helped me to make sure it wasn’t anything nefarious! Turns out, it was the TV turned up to like 30! The only things I didn’t explore were the gym, the pool, and the breakfast. I’m sure I’d rate them 10/10 though, based on the rest of the complex. This location is now favorited for the next time I’m in that city

The definition of putting lipstick on a pig! Will never stay here again. We came in for FSU game and started Friday-Sunday and I’m very very disappointed with Courtyard. I’ve stayed at many in the past and this is definitely below standard. Starting with the exterior door being out of order (after the front desk told us to use that door to access our room), the furniture in the room was beat to hell, the shower had the worst water flow ever and the staff was hit or miss depending on which one you talked to. For $700/night (including breakfast for 4 for 2 mornings) it was absolutely a rip off and I wouldn’t have paid more than $150/night for this place. DO NOT BUY THE BREAKFAST AS PART OF YOUR ROOM. They have a breakfast menu where you can pick from about 5 hot items (not buffet, order off menu) or you can choose a couple cold items (yogurt, muffin, etc.). There’s a Village Inn right at the end of the block you can walk to and get a much better breakfast for half the price. The location was the best part - walking distance to Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, restaurants, grocery store, etc. To the young lady that was checking us in on Friday afternoon and being trained - you were very sweet and should not put up with being talked to the way you were by the “manager” that was training you - especially the way she treated you in front of guests. RUN out of there - you can find any job in Tallahassee where the management will treat you much better. The young lady working the front desk Sunday morning was really nice, I don’t remember her name. The rest of our encounters were with people you can assume are either really mistreated or hate working there because customer service is dead at that hotel. There were 4 of us that checked in Friday and we were told no housekeeping into Sunday, which was fine. Expect they only had 3 bath towels in the room. When I called down to request 6-8 additional towels the guy at the front desk acted flabbergasted that we needed that many - 4 people x 2 showers (at least) = 8 towels, plus they have a pool we were contemplating using so I didn’t think the request was out of line at all but he was not happy about it and made it clear. Pictures of our room attached (we were in room 126 even though the phone said 115).

I must state the location and staff are five star. I feel some upgrades are needed. The coffee top lids don't fit the coffee cups, most hotels have Kerrigan coffee makers and the refrigerator size is the smallest I seen at a hotel a to go container cannot fit. Last and not less no microwave.
