COURTYARD DUNN LORING FAIRFAX

My wife and I stayed here for five days. The hotel was neat and clean. The staff were kind and attentive. I liked the free coffee in the room and the instant high pressure hot water from the shower. It's also a five minute walk to the Metro station. We didn't rent a car because the Metro took us everywhere we wanted to go. Airport, Tysons Corner, Tysons Corner II, Smithsonian, White House, Capitol, Monument, The Wharf, Crystal City & etc.... We did take an Uber to a couple of restaurants close by because the weather was too cold to walk 15 minutes. I enjoyed my stay at the Marriott Dunn Loring. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The garage is not free for guest and is a hassle to go back into from the hotel There was dust on surfaces of the room like table, fridge area, and spider webs behind the pillows of the beds. The floor smelled like adult piss in multiple parts of the room. The fridge was not cold and actually ruined my breast milk. The rate was lower on the day of then when we pre-booked it and was not given the difference. There is no pool. Even thought I called and saw pictures online that there was Overall shitty place. Save your money, this place is more like a motel.

It has taken me a long time — over two years — to be able to write this review without feeling angry. On July 10, 2023, a friend and I attempted to check in at this hotel. What we experienced was blatant discrimination that I would hope no one has to encounter in 2025. Both of us are loyal Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite members. We choose to stay with Marriott properties wherever we travel. On this trip, we flew in from the West Coast and headed straight to the hotel. There was an issue with their system when verifying our reservation, and instead of handling the situation professionally or with even basic courtesy, the front desk staff member was dismissive, rude, and increasingly hostile. The situation escalated to a shocking level when he claimed we were “harassing” him — simply for asking normal questions about our check-in — and he called law enforcement stating two “black men” are harassing him. Much of this interaction is documented on a time-stamped video showing that we remained calm and respectful throughout. No one should ever be treated this way, especially in a place of business that prides itself on hospitality. I’m sharing this so Marriott is aware of the harm that can occur when staff are allowed to act in such a discriminatory manner, and in hopes that no other guest has to go through what we did.
