After a long day of delayed flights, I was tired and hungry when I checked in to my room. Despite the late hours, the front desk attendant Mara was warm and welcoming. Mara thoroughly equipped me with water and snacks to recover from my flight which I greatly appreciated. She quickly checked me into my room. The welcoming service was the best way to cap an otherwise stressful day of travel. The hotel itself was well-appointed and well managed. Everyone who assisted me was friendly and professional. The rooms were clean with no missing or damaged furnishings. Several nearby restaurants are serving excellent food. If you are visiting the convention center as I was, the location is extremely convenient. I'd highly recommend this hotel. Thank you, Mara!

As Marriotts go, this one’s below average, which is surprising considering the price and prominent location downtown and by the convention center. Bad for the brand, I’d say. Positives first: front desk was friendly and even though no upgrades were available for Gold, they handed me a nice bag of snacks. Hotel is easy to get around once you know how parking works. View of the water was a nice surprise. Real glassware in the rooms; sanitary plastic wrap a nice touch. Though the interior and room design is fairly modern looking, the soundproofing was below par. Easy to hear entire conversations from a nearby room. A few misses by housekeeping - random hairs in bathroom. What I can’t stop thinking about though is the coffee service. No coffee urns in lobby or dining area, just a Starbucks counter. But that’s the sad, inexplicable norm for pricier non-residence properties, just like the cheap plastic in-room single serve machine with the dust filled “coffee” pod. Whatever. It works as a starter cup first thing in the morning. But THIS singular Marriott offers no creamers. What’s up with that? Of all the things to cheap out on, this is a weird choice by management. How much money are you saving at the expense of your customers’ morning moment of zen? It’s wild how hard this property misses the mark, considering that I’ve had a perfectly great experience at the property right across the street.
