Crystal Tower Hotel

The windows in the rooms were dirty, and the cleaning was poor. One of the maids was slamming doors in the rooms from very early in the morning. We were very tired when we arrived, and they charged us $30 for checking in three hours before the official check-in time. It was impossible to rest because of that woman slamming doors. The pillows were a disaster—so heavy, hard, and very uncomfortable. If I wanted to read in bed, the lights were above the headboard and very bright; there were no lamps on the nightstands. The phone to call reception didn't work; they replaced it after three days. One day the TV remote disappeared, and the next day there were two. When we tried to use the safe, we couldn't close it, and it started blaring an unbearable alarm. They came to unlock it but couldn't. We left because of the noise, and they replaced the safe while we waited. The breakfast was bad, with no fruit, just fruit salad and boiled apple. Lots of flour. The finger sandwiches were microscopic and awful. Some bills are from the previous day or older. Croissants filled with salami? Horrible. The staff doesn't even greet you when you walk in. They stand around waiting to clean or replenish items, and while they're doing that, they run their hands through their hair, fix their hair, sneeze, or cough, covering their mouths and noses with the hands they're using to serve. In short, a disaster. The block where the hotel is located is awful, even though it's only half a block from 18 de Julio Avenue. During the day, you can walk around without any problems, but at night it's very unpleasant, dark, and full of people lying in the streets. Many are poor and have nowhere else to go, but others inspire fear. Of the hotel staff, I'd like to highlight Ms. Katerina at reception. She's usually there at night, super friendly, and always willing to solve any problem. I'm grateful to her. I love Uruguay and its people. I've been going there since I was a child, to Montevideo, but much more so to Piriápolis. But I wouldn't return to this hotel. What a shame.

Very nice place. Excellent service from the staff. Great breakfast, lots of variety.

The location is great. The staff are attentive. The room wasn't clean when we arrived. The towels are stiff, rough, and quite worn. The bathtub has a curtain that sticks to whoever is showering. The breakfast was limited and always the same for all six days. It's definitely not a 4-star hotel. The value for money is poor for the guest.
