Located outside the city center but just a few minutes' drive away, with a very beautiful view of the city. The room and bathroom were spacious, with everything you need. It's a hotel that's been around for quite a while, and that's evident in the rooms, but it's highly recommended for those who don't want luxuries (which is what a 3-star hotel actually is). The breakfast is good, and the restaurant served me a wonderful Douro red wine with fantastic spinach ravioli. One last very positive note: I saw some well-cared-for cats in the hotel's garden, with international sterilization markings (ear clipping), which conveyed to me that this hotel also has civic responsibility and humanism. I'll be returning with my family!

My experience at the Hotel Don Luis in Coimbra was very good. It's a simple hotel, located on the outskirts of Coimbra. It all depends on what you're looking for, but in general, it's a very quiet hotel. Although the furniture in the rooms is a bit dated, the beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows. They are very spacious, and a plus is that if you request a triple room, they give you three beds, not an extra one. It's also worth noting that the double rooms are huge and spacious. And very clean. They have heating now in winter. As for the food, we were a group of 60 people, and well, it was just okay. Breakfast was fine, with a bit of everything: cold cuts, bread, fruit… however, the group meals, although buffet-style, didn't have much variety to choose from. Regarding the service, it was excellent. The waiters were very helpful and always friendly and cooperative. I'm not familiar with the hotel's amenities, but I did notice they have several lounges, a bar, a restaurant, and a function room (which works very well). By the way, there's plenty of parking for cars and buses outside. In short, I recommend it for a couple of days' stay.
