Danhostel Aarhus

Although this review is late, I still remember clearly what happened at that hostel when I was at camp with my class. We were greeted by an old lady who seemed nice but spent a lot of time going through a long list of strict and strange rules. For example, you are not allowed to have drinks or food in the rooms, which I think was a bit excessive. The staff were not helpful and were never around The food was disappointing in every way. Not only was it the same every five days, but it was also of poor quality and there was hair in the food several times. The taste is much worse than food from a Ryanair flight. In addition, there were brown stains all over the rooms and the toilet was full of shit, which didn't exactly make it any more pleasant. If you ever end up in room 20, be prepared: the carpet smells of shit and pee, and there are countless brown stains. The top bed is in such bad shape and you need a 40cm metal bar to hold it together and some duct tape. And then there are bugs everywhere, you have to be able to deal with them if you want to survive. Little tip if you don't get enough of the food you can always eat the bugs crawling on the wall! ;) my other tip is there is a bench by the playground and out in the woods that you can just sleep on, it's a bit cold, but the room isn't much better. To be honest: I would almost rather sleep on a bench at the main train station. Because I think it's very hot. But hey, honestly, friends… at least you're not homeless and there's a place to live.

I guess that's the definition of "ok". The rooms are boring, the bathroom is a bit too much like a changing room. But it's on the cheap side. We arrived outside reception opening hours and the staff was kind enough to leave us a key.

Fantastic cozy place. The room was nice and clean. The location is great. Beautifully surrounded by a beautiful old forest, but only a few hundred meters down to the water.
