Danhostel Hillerød

It's a facility similar to a youth nature center. If you follow Google Maps, you'll get lost. After getting off at Ved Egedam bus stop on the 302, Google Maps will guide you down a narrow road north of the hotel, but ignore it and take the road south called Lejrskolevej. You can only reach the hotel from the north by taking an animal trail. You have to pay a separate fee for rental sheets (linens) and towels. In my case, it was 90 DKK per person. There was a notice that sheets were required, so is not including them in the room rate a way to make the hotel seem cheaper on hotel booking sites? Isn't that a sneaky tactic? Perhaps because it's supposed to be a rental, you have to set up your pillowcases and sheets yourself. You also have to remove them yourself before checking out and put them in a blue container in the hallway. I couldn't find this container, so I had to go all the way to the neighboring building to look for it. The railings above the bunk beds are low, so I was a little worried that I might fall off if I turned over in my sleep. The receptionist seemed to be absent. When I checked in in the evening, no one was there and the door was locked, with the key in an envelope on a shelf next to it. There was a sign with instructions. When I checked out, no one was there either, and there was a box for the key. However, I had to pay the rental fee mentioned above, so I went looking for it. I wonder if other people hadn't paid? Overall, it gave the impression of being sloppy. - The property has a large lawn with play equipment (swings, Tarzan, wooden jungle gym), as well as a volleyball net and goals for futsal and handball. There is also what appears to be a bonfire area. Reservations are not accepted for the facilities, so you may have to balance your visit with other guests. The secluded environment makes it a relaxing holiday.

We chose it because it was the most affordable option at the time of our visit, but hotel prices in Copenhagen were sky-high due to the festival. During our 20-day Scandinavian tour, we mostly stayed in 4- and 5-star hotels, but we didn't like any of them as much as DanHostel Hillerød. It's an incredibly beautiful hotel.

There was tons of nice walks and playgrounds and campsites in this area but the service wasn’t very good as the staff where not very friendly and the food was t also that great.the lasagna was very soggy and the curry they served gave one of the friends in my group food poisoning.the vids had a lot of stains on them and the water at the hotel was not very nice. Overall the dan hostel is an alright hostel but it needs to put a bit more effort into making it a bit better
