Dazzler by Wyndham Montevideo

What we experienced at this hotel was UNBELIEVABLE (quick summary: the hotel organized an event on a THURSDAY until the early hours of the morning, blatantly lied to us about various issues, and in addition to not offering a solution, when I complained, they were arrogant, called the police claiming I attacked them, and demanded we leave). Long version: We decided to stay for 3 nights, and we got a room facing the back of the building. Around 8 pm (Thursday), music started blasting in the hotel's inner courtyard (no exaggeration, the windows were rattling, making it impossible to watch TV, read, or rest in any way). We called reception to ask about the noise, since we saw that the event was taking place inside the hotel. A young woman answered and told me that the event wasn't organized by the hotel (first lie), so they couldn't do anything, and that it should end around 10 pm (second lie). At 10:30 PM we called again (this time a young man answered) and, since it was past the time they had initially told us, I asked if they could change our room to one at the front of the hotel to escape the noise. He said he would check, and five minutes later he called us back to say it wasn't possible. I asked if they were at 100% occupancy (it was obvious they weren't), and he replied that that information wasn't his responsibility. I asked when the event was going to end, and he told me 12:30 AM (the third lie, since it lasted longer, and contradicting the false time they had given us earlier). I told him it was unacceptable and asked how they were going to resolve it. He said that was his answer, to which I replied that I was going down to reception to continue talking to him face to face, and he responded, "I'll wait for you." When I went down to reception, I fortunately had the idea to record the interaction. Six seconds after I arrived at the desk, the receptionist picked up the phone and called the police, claiming I was "attacking" them. She told me to leave the reception area immediately, as that was no way to treat people. While the argument continued, more guests called to complain, and they were lied to, just like we were, being told there was nothing that could be done since it wasn't a hotel event. I then decided to go to the restaurant where the party was taking place (it's all inside the hotel, everything is internally connected), and they told me the event was organized by Dazzler itself. After waiting several hours for the police (it was already 1 a.m. and the music was still playing), we went to sleep. At 3 a.m., we were woken up by reception and told we had to go downstairs because the police were there. The officers (who, we must say, were incredibly kind to us) told us that the hotel staff had asked them to remove us, but without offering any kind of refund. They reassured us that despite the hotel's request, they couldn't do such a thing, especially after seeing the video I showed them, which confirmed there was no attack (as the hotel staff member claimed), and that we weren't doing anything illegal. We can't wrap our heads around the arrogance with which the staff at this Dazzler behaved. I swear on my mother's life that the first two times we called reception, we were polite and helpful, but when we weren't satisfied with the rude response and the lack of solutions to a problem the hotel itself created, the arrogance of these people (who expected us to endure the music until an indefinite hour on a weekday) increased exponentially to the point of calling the police on a guest who was making a perfectly reasonable complaint. We managed to get a refund thanks to Despegar, and we ended up going to the Costanero, where the service was impeccable. Learn to see things clearly and get off your high horse, because despite what you might think, your job as employees is to serve the people who come to relax at your facilities. Why don't you open a chicken rotisserie instead?

One of the best swimming pools in Montevideo, in terms of location; otherwise, everything is normal (they need to fix the bathroom situation, something's always going on).

- Old hotel, in urgent need of renovation. Sofas in the reception area are dirty and have sagging seats. Reception staff are cold and without smiles. - Upon entering the room, there was a musty smell; it seemed to have been used by someone or had been unused for a long time. - Above the entrance door to the room, on the ceiling, there was a rusty grate with a bad smell. - Large window overlooking an inaccessible interior area; curtains must be kept closed to avoid being seen through other windows. The curtains have moth holes and a bad smell. - There is no support in the bathroom for hanging towels, bags, or bikinis. The toilet is stuck. The bathroom smells of clogged sewage. - The first shower revealed dusty towels with debris that looked like it came from the bathroom exhaust fan, as it was high up and close to the ceiling. One of the towels was yellowed and very old. The bathroom outlet does not work for razors and other devices. Old, small hairdryer with a short cord. - An outlet far from the headboard for charging a cell phone, and next to the bed a broken outlet and a non-functioning lamp. - The air conditioning doesn't work; we called hotel maintenance several times, they dirtied the bathroom, and the air conditioning remained in terrible condition, and of course, it was unbearably hot. - Breakfast, literally, coffee with milk, bread, mozzarella and ham, orange juice, banana and apple, dry cake. I don't recommend it; it's better to go to a coffee shop. - New Year's Eve in Montevideo is terrible because nothing is open. Restaurants require reservations and are far away. Like Punta del Este. There are no buses, taxis, or Uber. Everything doubles or triples in price. The hotel simply doesn't care about its guests. For these reasons, the location is also unfavorable.
