Deva Beach Resort Samui

We stayed at this hotel over New Year's Eve. The complex is spacious and modern. The restaurant area is also large. However, we always ate out, so I can't really comment on the quality of the restaurant. Our room was very large and had plenty of space for two people. The downside, however, was the smell and dampness in the room. It constantly felt musty, and everything was slightly clammy. The hotel is in a quiet location. However, it's also somewhat isolated, and you need a scooter to get to livelier areas. There are one or two restaurants and massage parlors within walking distance of the hotel. For anything else, you have to walk about 5-10 minutes up to the main road. The hotel's own beach is small and not really suitable for swimming. To the right is the yacht harbor, from where boat trips for snorkeling, etc., depart. Overall, the hotel is nice if you're looking for something a bit quieter. The room should have been dry for the price.

I had a very distressing experience at Deva Beach Resort and would not recommend staying here. We had two separate bookings of three nights each. When checking out of our first room, we stripped the bed, simply trying to be helpful, and left the used bed sheets outside the room with other linen. Shortly after, we were accused of stealing the bed sheets and told we had to pay 6,000 baht to replace them. Despite CCTV footage clearly showing us carrying the sheets out of the room and leaving them in a pile with other linen, staff claimed the pile “was not big enough” to contain all the sheets. They also stated they did not have time to review all CCTV footage to confirm whether the sheets were taken at another time, yet still treated us as guilty. As a result, we were denied access to our next pre-paid room for over 8 hours while they “investigated.” We were repeatedly told we would not be allowed into our room unless we paid. Eventually, under clear duress, we were coerced into paying 3,000 baht just to gain access to accommodation we had already paid for. The entire situation was so distressing that it brought me to tears, yet staff showed no empathy, friendliness, or understanding. At no point were we treated with fairness or respect. There was no evidence of theft, yet we were presumed guilty, disbelieved, and pressured into paying money. This was an extremely upsetting and unprofessional experience that completely overshadowed our stay. I would strongly caution other travellers against staying here.
