Djerba Orient

Our experience at this hotel was a disaster. My father booked the courtyard for my wedding last September. My husband and I were coming from abroad, so we weren't involved in the planning. We chose this venue because we wanted a private, enclosed space accessible only to guests. Had we known, we should have done it at home. We arrived that morning to check into the bridal suite and see how the tables and chairs were being set up outside. My father also made the final payment. This resulted in truly poor service afterward, as they had nothing left to expect from us. We turned on the air conditioning so the room would be cool in the evening, since we were going to get ready in traditional Djerbian clothing. To make a long story short, when we arrived that evening, the room was HOT. I went to get the man at reception immediately. He acted as if he didn't understand why it wasn't working. I asked him for another room, and he gestured that he would be back. He never returned. I went back to the reception desk several times, and the last time we saw him, he was hiding in his office, pretending he had forgotten. We had to go back to the house to prepare for the air conditioning. There was no way I was getting my makeup done in that room. Later, while I was out, a family member fell into a hidden hole in the floor. The area was poorly lit and completely unsafe. It could have been fatal for an elderly person or a child. This person had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. And that's not all; there was also a power outage of more than 15 minutes in the middle of the evening, with no explanation or apology. The staff seemed almost annoyed when my father asked what was going on. Finally, we had a group of traditional musicians and dancers performing. Due to all the previous unforeseen events, the troupe was behind schedule. The staff signaled us at 11 PM that we needed to leave quickly. As a result, we weren't able to enjoy the party as much as we had planned. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! Dishonest and dangerous.

Unfortunately, I was woken up by a rat in my bed, which was then caught and killed by the night porter. The hygiene was terrible; definitely don't book this hotel.

This hotel is an absolute disaster. The room smelled awful, the sheets looked like they hadn’t been washed in weeks, and the bathroom was disgusting. The staff were unhelpful and seemed annoyed any time I asked for something. I wouldn’t stay here again even if it was free
